25.01.2022 Council provides residential parking permits for residents who live in in streets with parking restrictions. Usually, all residential parking permits expire on 31 October each year, but this year (2020) we are extending the validity of current residential parking permits until 31 October 2021. Residents can rely on using their current permit(s) with no further action required. This is part of our commitment to ongoing support to our community in response to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Letters are also being sent to all residential parking permit holders. For more info phone 9518 3555 to speak to our Customer Service team.
24.01.2022 The playground upgrades in Oakleigh Ward continue. We're also consulting on upgrading Garnett Street in Huntingdale - frankly, well overdue. Click on the link to have your say below. I was really excited when officers agreed to trial an expression swing in the new Samada Street playground a few years ago. It's a swing that accommodates two people (either a parent and a young child, or two children). It was so popular there, that I asked officers to put one in when we redesigned Galbally reserve and it's quickly become one of the more popular pieces of equipment. Following discussions late last year, it's now being installed as standard.
24.01.2022 That’s me! I don’t really believe in going in to a shop once every four years to put up a poster. I’ll only be asking to put them up in businesses I regularly visit. Having said that, those of you who follow this page will know that’s a lot, especially cafes We’ve been going to Little Hong Kong House in Clayton since before our kids were born. They’ve seen our kids grow up. Still the best spicy calamari going around!
24.01.2022 What an initiative spoonville that’s popped up on the corner of Ross and Shafton Streets in #Huntingdale
23.01.2022 In preparation for lifting of restrictions, Council has been working closely with traders to create new outdoor dining areas to allow our restaurants and cafes to open in a COVID safe way. First cab off the rank is the Pinewood Shopping Centre - you can view the plans in the link below - other areas to come shortly. https://www.monash.vic.gov.au//pro/geod-pinewood-final.pdf
21.01.2022 Almost two years to the day; Zoe’s first swimming lesson. We miss our daddy-daughter time every Sunday morning, it’s one of the many routines have been broken this year. Can’t wait until we can get back in the pool again. Sadly, Zoe will be swimming by herself now instead of having daddy to help her

19.01.2022 Every single day the kids wake up at 6am. We don’t need an alarm clock. This morning my wife and I were woken up at 7:10am. We thought we’d turned a corner. Then later we realised daylight saving had begun
18.01.2022 I love having kids. It allows me to re-live my childhood all over again. Just slightly addicted to honey crackles in my teenage years
17.01.2022 It’s hot, but it’s a great day to be out shredding those lockdown kilos!
16.01.2022 My brother and I used to play Chess all the time when we were kids. I haven’t played for more than ten years, but during the last few weeks of lockdown I’ve rediscovered my love for the game. Anyone a half decent player and want a game online? Happy to message you the details for a challenge
16.01.2022 Oakleigh - from the 1920 Morgan's Street Directory! Broadwood Pde and layout of Burlington most interesting
16.01.2022 Have you received my letter in your letterbox? If not, it should arrive by the end of the week. I don’t accept donations from ANYONE. Everything is paid for out of my own pocket and delivered by myself and my volunteers. I am extremely grateful to each and every one of them for their belief in me, and the work I've been doing.

14.01.2022 So the kids have been bugging me to help deliver letters. Today I took them on a small route. We get to the last letterbox and April says she wants to make a video. Unprompted and unscripted. The sound is ordinary but this was what she said: Hi everyone. I’m helping my Dad deliver letters so he can be the mayor again. Byeeeee Adorable
13.01.2022 ** UPDATE ON DIRECT DEBITS ** Council has been informed by Westpac (the bank we use) that all issues with automatic payments have now been resolved. You don’t need to do anything and can simply ignore today’s texts. We apologise for any added stress this may have caused during this tough time, and we have put steps in place to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
13.01.2022 **Disclaimer: This information is compiled from the daily update that Council receives from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and may be out-of-date. 12.01.2022 During lockdown Donna and I craved a good steak. After trying a few places, we fell in love with Basilico Restaurants and their amazing peppercorn sauce. How satisfying to finally be able to dine in instead of ordering takeaway. Try them out!
12.01.2022 Breakfast of champions. Power food for a few hours of letterboxing
11.01.2022 After a year in hibernation it’s great to be back out in the community enjoying each other’s company. Today, it was the Archangel Michael & St Anthony's Coptic Orthodox Church annual fete in Drummond Street. Open until 4pm!
10.01.2022 Cracking day to #SupportLocal for lunch at Oakleigh Fish 'N Chippery It’s been great to see so much extra outdoor dining spaces created around #Oakleigh on this side of lockdown. Yes, we’ve lost some car parking and petrol fumes, but it’s been replaced by people socialising and enhancing the vibrancy of this unique area. Starting to remind me a bit of Eastern Europe. I’d like to see some of the outdoor dining become permanent. What do you think?
10.01.2022 Wars have been fought all around the world by people seeking the right to vote in a democratic election. You've got that right, and exercising it is the most powerful part of our democracy. Don't forget to post your ballot by 6pm Thursday 22nd October. Further info: https://bit.ly/3iQxPQv
10.01.2022 Following the State Government's announcements of more easing of restrictions from midnight, we're looking at the required changes to our services and will be working towards implementing them as soon as possible. It's wonderful to be able to welcome more of you back to our services and facilities! #Covid19Vic
10.01.2022 That’s me! We’re so blessed in Eaton Mall with so many different cafes and shops, but Vanilla has the best passionfruit panna cotta going around. I’m also just a tad addicted to their berry burst smoothies Thanks for your support!
09.01.2022 ** New Centre Road Skyrail Playspace ** I've been mindful of the lack of playgrounds east of Clayton Road. On the back of one of my budget bids, we opened a rebuilt playground in Evelyn Street around this time last year. We've also been working with the LXRA on the design of a brand new playspace under the Skyrail. It is proposed to be located to the west of the sports courts on the corner of Centre and Carinish Roads.... We're looking for your feedback on the proposal - click the link below!

07.01.2022 We need your help!! Please share this post so we can locate a Good Samaritan who stopped to assist our Unit Controller at the scene of an accident yesterday’s a...pproximately 3.30pm. A young tradie stopped and assisted our Controller who was also driving past and stopped to render assistance to the injured cyclist until Ambulance Victoria arrived on scene. The incident was at the corner of Ferntree Gully Rd and Avonhurst Drive Glen Waverley at 3.30pm on Friday 20 November. If you know who the tradie is, can you please ask him to message us so we can thank him for his assistance. [email protected] or on our Facebook page. See more
07.01.2022 Can’t wait for this project to be finished!
07.01.2022 Great news for active transport in Oakleigh! We've been working on concept plans for a pop-up cycleway to link the Scotchman's Creek and Djerring Trails for quite a while (first three pictures). Plans include a dedicated protected lane between Dandenong & Atherton Roads, accessible bus stops and improvements to the crossing at Dandenong Road. After months of negotiations with DOT and PTV, I'm pleased to announce that we've finally received funding and approval to proceed. If ...the pop-up proves to be successful, we'll look to make more permanent changes, including protected lanes between Atherton Road and the Djerring Trail - check out some examples from Sydney in the last picture. Note: Pictures are concepts only, with final designs not yet completed.
06.01.2022 In Flanders fields the poppies blow, Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.... We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. Lest we forget
06.01.2022 I’ve been getting a lot of these lately. And well needed after a year from hell. Life’s good!

02.01.2022 Proud to be a leader in advocating for alternative transport solutions.
02.01.2022 WHAT AN EFFORT!! A massive big thanks to all my volunteers who have helped my wife and I deliver almost 24,000 letters in just four days, well ahead of schedule. I have been absolutely blown away by random strangers reaching out to me on social media to say they've been following me for a while, love what I do, and want to help get my message out there (just like this local legend, pictured below).... As much as running an election campaign is the last thing I want to be doing in the middle of a lock down, I have been genuinely moved by the outpouring of support and kind words from people I've never met. It's given me a real spring in my step and further validated my decision to stand again. Thank you to each and every one of you - it honestly means a lot!
02.01.2022 Vegemite is one of Australia's most enduring cultural icons. But how did it come to be created? More than 20 million jars of Vegemite are sold every year, but w...hen it was first produced in the 1920s it was met with little public interest. As part of our Australia Day program, join Jamie Callister (author of The Man Who Invented Vegemite) as he talks about the grandfather he never met in a story that spans the Gold Rush, the Great Depression and two World Wars and recognises the quiet achievements (as well as tragedies) of one extraordinary man. The online presentation will be available for viewing from Tuesday 26 January. Book now: https://bit.ly/2XEbVry

01.01.2022 Are you ready? Live at Warrawee was the first event cancelled due to COVID-19 in March 2020. It's also the first live festival that the City of Monash has run since. This year our headline act is Alex Lahey, a Melbourne-based award-winning singer/songwriter who has had four tracks in Triple J hottest 100 and racked up a huge 50 million streams since her gold-certified debut album was released in 2017.... Horns of Leroy and Hayley Mary also feature in this star studded line up. So grab a picnic basket and blanket and join us for an afternoon/evening of live music at your local park. Due to COVID restrictions, bookings are essential and will open on Monday. Can't wait to see you there!
