23.01.2022 So hot on the heals of the retro Escort we reported last week now news of the new Moke. The Moke has been resurrected in the UK, but the modern version is no longer the low-priced, bare-bones proposition it once was. Moke International which acquired the 'Moke' trademark in 2015 will initially build a limited run of just 56 vehicles. That’s one for each year since the tiny car came onto the market in Britain.... They’ll be sold for 20,000 each (AU$35,000) only slightly more expensive than the very cheapest second-hand Mokes for sale in the UK, and well below the AU$50,000 being asked for pristine examples. A modern fuel-injected 1.1-litre four-cylinder engine replaces the original 0.85-litre engine of the original Moke. The new engine produces 50kW and 93Nm, and allows the car to hit a maximum speed of 109km/h. Moke international are currently seeking expressions of interest for an Australian import partner.

23.01.2022 #slr5000 is the second #holden to go for crazy money this week, just $425,000 Complete with log books what makes this particular Holden so desirable is its rare A9X package, which was introduced as a way for the car company to fit more competitive performance parts to their racing cars, which had to be based on their road-going version. This particular Tuxedo Black sedan has less than 30,000 kilometres on the clock, and was held onto by the last owner for 28 years. The rare P...archment interior is completely original, with no reproduction parts added. As expected, the vehicle is what's known as a 'matching numbers' car, fitted with the engine and gearbox that accompanied the chassis from the factory. @all_aussie_holdens @holden @tuff_toranas @toranaheaven @torana_slr @holdenfanclubofaustralia

15.01.2022 Torana reunited with original owner 25 years after being stolen. Story from News Ltd A stolen 1973 pink Torana dubbed ‘Sexy Lexy’ has been reunited with its owner after 28 years. Carol’s beloved car was stolen in 1992, but she never gave up hope of finding her wheels.... Some neat detective work unravelled the mystery, when a fellow car enthusiast from Victoria’s vehicle crime squad put the brakes on a rebirthing syndicate. The syndicate had modified some of its stolen vehicles into high performance muscle cars, selling them off as genuine. When an unsuspecting buyer bought a number of cars from the syndicate between 2008 and 2011, one of them was Carol’s uninsured Torana. Exhausting detective work landed a Parkville man in his 50s a two-year wholly suspended jail term last month and an order to pay $560,000 in compensation to the unwitting buyer. Carol, now aged 74, turned up to the court hearing every day dressed in pink in homage to her beloved ‘Sexy Lexy’. It was a love that never waned for the car she used to rally drive. Investigating officer, Detective Senior Constable Florence, said reuniting her with the car was satisfying after so many years. I don’t think a day has gone by that she hasn’t wished for a miracle that it would be found, he said. As a car enthusiast myself, I am very happy to see the smile on Carol’s face as we watch her drive off in her beloved Torana. It also makes the long hours put into complex investigations like this, worth it.

12.01.2022 This 1973 Holden LJ Torana GTR was traded-in at the Ford dealership in West Wyalong a country town in central New South Wales where it has sat in a corner since 1985, the Torana was parked in the back of a shed and forgotten. Auctioneers Burns & Co report the vehicle has matching numbers, and believe the 86,000km shown on the odometer is the original mileage. While the body and chassis has not undergone a thorough inspection, the warm, dry climate of West Wyalong is suite...d to the preservation of storing vehicles. This old Holden Torana is among a growing list of classic car "barn finds" in Australia, attracting collectors and restorers of iconic vehicles from the 1960s and 1970s, the hey day of Australian motoring. The GTR was developed as the sports version of the Torana range, and though not as hot as the race-bred XU-1 variant, the 1973 Torana GTR was fitted with the 3.3-litre inline-six producing 101kW, coupled with the Aussie-built M21 four-speed manual gearbox. The dirt-covered VIN plate, showing LJ82911 as the model name, confirms this is a genuine GTR. Classic Australian 'barn-find' cars have broken recents in recent times, with the Ford Falcon XA GT RPO 83 'Chicken Coupe' selling for more than $300,000 in July. Pristine Torana GTR models have been known to sell for as much as $100,000 a far cry from the $900 paid for this model in the mid-80s. The auction also features a number of low mileage Fords from the local dealership, including a 1961 Fairlane 'tank' sedan, a 2005 Falcon XR8 Devil R with 4000km, and a 2016 Falcon FGX XR6 ute with a mere 98km on the clock. Burns & Co will conduct the auction on Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th of October. See more

02.01.2022 Who can share their story of being reunited with their first car?

02.01.2022 We’ve done a few stories on the A9X and SLR5000 but this one at Pickles is one of the best we have seen

01.01.2022 Another barn find GT, this one is a matching number XA 4 speed. Desirable colour combination and being a manual car it should do well. https://www.graysonline.com/lot/0001-10050252/

01.01.2022 Great car here with real performance history, coming up at Burns and Co.
