25.01.2022 Sneak peek of a resto in it's last stages... In an effort to retain the originality of a restoration, these glass panels gone old school by pinstriping the cursive text and then painting the white. These are just two of the four panels that will be installed into the main feature of a Gilbarco CMD resto. Big thanks to Julz Neville @ Pinstriping by Julz for her cursive skills ;-)

24.01.2022 Another restoration completed, just in the period between Christmas & New Years. This build had been a major undertaking over the last couple of months, but worth the effort. Ooooh if your wondering, it stands 3 metres tall. Shellmex Manual petrol pump - branded in a traditional 1930's Shell / Supershell livery. This pump started as a severely rusted and blown up unit that spent significant time at a pine plantation. Refer to last three photo's to see just a sample of the... poor state it was in. To bring this pump back to showroom standards, new exterior uprights along with all door were replaced. Installation of the door strapping in both traditional stamped rivet and spot welded, brought old methods blending with new methods. The manufacture of a Supercharged Wreath bracket was done to add the extra piece of jewellery to the build. The locking system had also gone through significant work, to make a seized rusty unit, back to operational spec. A repair and update to the factory lighting manifold was done, where of course the Super Shell globe was lighted, however two outboard provisions were utilised then light up the cylinders. All pipework had gone through a zinc-galvanising treatment to handle outside conditions. Refer to some photo's of pump switch on. All the frame bolts (approx. 70) were replaced with new zinc series to duplicate the original zinc/galvanised that were found during the breakdown of the pump. Furthermore brass hardware was also used were required, especially in creating the tamper proof hardware on the letterbox lock. The letterbox lock by happenstance was a task and a half by itself. After 3 months of legwork, a locksmith that deals specifically in repairing pre 1940's lock was found, and was repaired back to working. To take it to another level, all signage (on glass globe, side uprights and the sliding top door were hand-painted. Thanks to Julz Neville for her steady hands, the original setup was duplicated. ;-) Therefore in essence, the entire pump has been painted, polished, zinc plated, etc. where no vinyl decals were used. As you can see, a whole lot of effort & time was put into this restoration... cant wait for the owner to see it in person. Time to get back to it... with three other resto's on the go, plus many many more to follow.

24.01.2022 Another restoration completed, in this case earlier this year, however just been delivered. Gilbarco CMD petrol pump - branded in traditional 1940's Texaco - Power Chief / White Chief livery. This pump started as a basket-case carcass of a pump that required all new panelling, new uprights & a whole lot of parts. Unfortunately it had been left to rot, however in time the pump went through its inside outside restoration. Last photo attached shows where it all began from.... To match the period, early shillings/pence faceplates were sourced & installed. The art deco style original bezels were key, along with original visy bowls that still have their glass bowls. These pieces & more all made the pump match that period. To duplicate the Texaco light up top canopy section, glass panels were created and were taken to the high level of being hand painted on the inside by Julz Neville. To top that off, one of the new glass Texaco Star globes from Gas Pumps Australia was utilised. Nothing like keeping the pump to as much of the period setup. Was great to recreate a not so commonly seen livery, on the early style Gilbarco pump With the current climate, restoration was has been limited however will be back at it when time permits.

22.01.2022 Another restoration completed & delivered actually earlier this year. Was requested by owner not to post till now. Gilbert & Barker single manual pump branded in original Total "Super" early livery - as seen throughout the 1930's onto 1940's. This pump started as another incomplete carcass with the previous owner giving it a 'so-called prep-work ready for paint' - (refer to second last photo). However after some time and a whole lot of effort, its back to its former glory.... In emphasis to bring it to factory setup was made as original factory drawings had been sourced by owner (last photo attached). The entire pump has been restored with paint, no-vinyl decals used. All text and stripes on the panels are painted by hand. The canteen was also painted by hand, all thanks to Julz Neville @ Pinstriping by Julz :-) (y) Installation of original glass cylinder along with building the factory light manifold from scratch has become the norm with these resto's. Of course a lot of the parts utilised are from & available at Gas Pumps Australia. Another restoration was complete just last week, will be posted next week. but more pump resto's to follow :-)

Includes repro acrylic cylinder to suit. Original livery is this unique spiral setup, however still perplexed which brand it is.

13.01.2022 Gone but not forgotten... Lest we forget.

11.01.2022 Another restoration completed, Gilbarco CMD branded in original early COR livery. This pump started as a half rusted away incomplete carcass, that deserved to come back to its former glory - last photo shows how hard it had gone through. A emphasis was taken to bring it to the early period finish. Therefore following items were utilised during the build:... * original early "shillings & pence" faceplates * remanufacturing glass lenses for the canteens * hand-painting of the "Modern Petrols" signage in the canopy section - thanks to Julz Neville @ Pinstriping by Julz :-) , prior to painting all the white frosted glass * eight lamp holder setup for the light manifold (refer to second last photo) * early series reset knob assemblies Of course an inside out resto was done & was sad for this one to leave the factory. Like always, parts utilised are from & available at Gas Pumps Australia. Back onto more pump resto's .. with Gilbarco, Emmco, Shellmex & Wayne pumps all being worked in some way :-)

10.01.2022 Another restoration completed for 2020 and received by a aprreciated owner ;-) Wayne 605 single pump model branded in traditional Activ-8 livery as seen throughout the 1960's. However in this case as per client's request, the internals were to remain & given a refrained factory look appearance. Also re-install an original ram back onto pump bring more authanticity to the overall unit. The pump initially started as a parts pump (last photo attached), however reassembled with ...all internals. Once done, the pump and certain pipes were filled so to keep an air tight seal on any possible fuel (in this case kerosene) that would remain. Installation of a working hose retractor unit helps add to the period piece, along with stainless steel fittings on the hoses. It may be just another Wayne 605 in Golden Fleece, however in this case takes it to another level of original specifications. Another two resto's on the go, however a new direction on the horizon.

09.01.2022 Another restoration completed & in this case, crated and on the way interstate. Gilbarco CME-D petrol pump - branded in traditional 1950's BP/COR (Commonwealth Oil Refineries) transition livery. This is a mirror of a restoration completed last year, however in this case, more work was involved. ... The pump started as in a "need of attention" state (refer to last photo attached) and subsequently a lot of parts were manufactured and replenished from our stock to make whole again. Items such as matched pair of original visy-bowls to suit, matching original main bezels, original fluted corner canopy, original faceplates.. the list goes on and on. In addition to getting the pump back complete, installation of a glass globe with custom "COR" & "BP SUPER" decals were created. Also the lower panel advertisement ("BENZOL") signs were taken to the high level of being hand painted by Julz Neville. Like factory setup back in its day, it is bolted on using brass hardware. Apologises for reduced photo's shown.. have been cramped for space lately ;-) Time to get back to it... with three other resto's on the go, plus many many more to follow.

08.01.2022 Snippet of a current resto When you have only one visy bowl spinner and none are reproduced... well time to make some from scratch. Original unit to work from on left... other two been made from scratch. Second photo is after first coat of paint to duplicate the spinner graphix. It may be a small thing... but still a piece of the puzzle of a resto ;-)

08.01.2022 Another restoration completed & in this case, a one-off Wayne 605 inspired display cabinet. A past client had a request for a display cabinet for his lamp oil showroom. After acquiring an original 'Pink Parrifin' milk glass globe, a design was created - the rest is history ;-) . Other than the original Wayne 605 base (modified) and canopy, new panels & frame were fabricated. Rear panel was two standard panels cut/shut to fill the void and continue a clean outside look. ... Inside was setup up with adjustable glass shelving, that allows two down lights to show of their products and of course lighting setup to handle the canopy & globe. Last photo shows it sitting in the showroom stocked up. Back onto the resto's on the go... with plans to get a couple more to be finished by Christmas.

05.01.2022 Not a restoration this time around, however two pumps are available for purchase as they fall in the "too good for resto" classification. ***********PUMP HAS BEEN SOLD************ Pump no.1: Wayne 605B Multi-Mix BP model - ... This is an early production with schillings & pence setup (circa 1959-60) Had been previously guttered prior and wasn't running a globe/sign setup. However have added an original BP globe to go with it. No attempts to clean the paint have been made - been in storage for 10+years Original glass adglass inserts (one side cracked but holds in canopy) with only ever seen pair of Shillings/Pence faceplates. As they say, where are you going to find anyone. Can be freighted at buyers cost.

04.01.2022 Another restoration completed and picked up by a speechless owner ;-) Gilbert & Barker double manual pump branded in traditional Firezoned early livery as seen throughout the 1930's. This pump started as an incomplete carcass with a whole lot of items having to source (refer to last photo). However after some time and a whole lot of effort, its back to its former glory.... Installation of original glass cylinders along with building the factory light manifold from scratch (refer to 2nd last photo). Just a sample of what was done. Own created die-cut decals along with custom made Golden Fleece Motor Spirit decals, were utilised to duplicate the old style setup. Of course a lot of the parts are from & available at Gas Pumps Australia . Any which way you take notice of this pump when it sits nearly 11' tall. Back onto more pump resto's... they don't stop :-)

02.01.2022 Just a sneepet of one resto on the go .. EMMCO Clockface Unfortunately this frame had endured a rough life in the weather and rust was prevalent on the uprights. End result, replace uprights and duplicate countersink holes. Even consideration of continuing the old hardware aspect - correct NOS countersink 3/8" bolts sourced as well. No everyday Phillips head or metric bolt used on this pump ... It might not be seen in end result, however always better to keep the pump original as possible. See more

01.01.2022 On this day... we remember them.
