16.01.2022 Next Friday is film night for members of the Crystal Theatre Film Society May is Classics Month, and were screening The 400 Blows (1959): French film, black-and white, runtime 99 minutes, classified PG (low level coarse language, sexual references). In this remarkable film, a twelve-year-old boy breaks free from the confines of his everyday life, to discover refuge in his love of cinema. Stars Jean-Paul Laud, Albert Rmy, and Claire Maurier.... Screening starts at 7.30pm at the Stanley Town Hall, Friday 27th May. Stay afterwards for a cuppa, if you can. See you there.

14.01.2022 The Crystal Theatre Film Society screening for members the documentary The Salt of the Earth on Friday 24th June, 7.30pm at the Stanley Town Hall. The social photographer Sebastiao Salgado witnessed the major events of our recent history: international conflicts, starvation and exodus, and then embarked on photographing grandiose landscapes, wild fauna, and flora, as a tribute to the planets beauty. Classified M (mature themes).

13.01.2022 To members of the Crystal Theatre Film Society The Annual General Meeting, followed by a General Meeting, will be on Saturday 20th August, at 1pm in the upstairs meeting room of the Stanley Town Hall. The front doors wont be open; access is up the driveway. The agenda for both meetings are attached. Also attached are the minutes of last years AGM and General Meeting.... At this stage, there are three members coming, and apologies from nine. For those who arent coming, well miss you. Is there any item on the agenda you want to comment on? If youre on the committee, do you want to stay on the committee (so that we dont have to guess what your intentions are), and do you have any comments for discussion? 13.01.2022 January Crystal Theatre Film Society screens Sully (2016) for members at the Stanley Town Hall on Friday 27th January, starting at 7.30pm. Produced and directed by Clint Eastwood, it is the untold story behind the miracle on the Hudson. Stars Tom Hanks as Captain Chesley Sully Sullenberger, and Aaron Eckhart as his co-pilot.
