25.01.2022 I am standing for council because I want to help build a healthier, safer and connected community. This means supporting and investing in our local community and sporting clubs. I am a fierce advocate for young women's increased participation in sport and having led a number of community engagement projects across the state, I understand the important role sport plays in fostering strong community connection. As a former police officer, I was awarded Victoria Police Youth O...fficer of the Year, the Victorian Multicultural Award for Excellence and the Silk-Miller Scholarship, largely for my community engagement work fostered through sport. Over the years I have worked in partnership with the AFL, delivering footy clinics in schools, camps and community events. I have even trained as an umpire. My husband and I were proud members of the Victoria Police Soccer Team where we had the privilege of delivering soccer clinics to rural communities in partnership with Football Victoria. I coached two female basketball teams for five years for newly arrived communities (GO DRAGONS) and played roller derby with the Victorian Roller Derby League. We are an active family, my son plays tennis, Auskick (cancelled due to COVID), I cycle and scuba dive and my husband is an open water swimmer, runner and an avid sky diver. BUT sport is about so much more than just winning or losing - it's about COMMUNITY CONNECTION, LEADERSHIP and ETHICS. This is the kind of sport I want to champion for our community. Vote 1 Crystal Cartwright for integrity, leadership and transparency. #communityconnection #inclusivesport #integrity #communityleadership #beckettward #communitymatters #localcommunity #healthykidsarehappykids #workingtogether #baysidecitycouncil #Bayside #sportsmanship #supportlocal

22.01.2022 This week I caught up with the talented Emily Tinker - a young entrepreneur I met a few years back at one of our local community fetes Emily was selling her eco food wraps as an alternative to single use plastic - legend She was in year 9 and 15 years old at the time Passionate about environmental sustainability, Emily started her small business BeeSustainable: Eco Food Wraps in 2018 as part of the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) $20 boss program. So it i...s no surprise that now at just 17, she already has a number of prestigious leadership awards under her belt - Go Emily With a background in Adolescent Health and Welfare, I understand the invaluable contributions our young people make in our community. Young people have the contemporary, real-world knowledge and experience of issues and opportunities impacting them and their communities. If elected, you can count on me to champion youth participation and leadership opportunities, ensuring their voice is heard throughout council. In the meantime, if you're in need of some eco wraps, check out Emily's page below and support one of our local businesses https://www.facebook.com/BeeSustainableEcoFoodWraps #baysidecitycouncil #beckettward #beaumaris #youthempowerment #youthleaders #youthleadership #youthentrepreneur #bayside #communitymatters #noplastic #youthparticipation #youthvoice #youngleaders #BeeSustainable

18.01.2022 I want to take some time to celebrate a massive win for our community. This win is for everyone This week Bayside City Council voted unanimously for the ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ACCESS AND INCLUSION ADVISORY COMMITTEE! This is the result of months/years of community advocacy undertaken by the most dedicated, passionate and persistent group of local residents who have vehemently stood up and shared their stories to fight for a more accessible and inclusive Bayside. While doin...g so, they have also raised significant community awareness. I have been heartened by their personal stories and equally, by the community spirit and support behind them. This advisory committee will mean that people with a disability and others within our community who are impacted by access and inclusion, such as family members and our elderly, will have the opportunity to directly inform future planning and pave the way for policy change throughout Bayside. Giving a voice to, and ensuring people with lived experience have a seat at the table isn't just a nice thing to do, it's an absolute necessity for good decision making and it benefits us all This is only the first step, and there is still so much more to do, but for now, I wanted to acknowledge the efforts of those community members who I deeply respect and admire for their courage and conviction. Well done Bayside! I want to see Bayside fulfill its potential as a vibrant and inclusive city. Increasing the number of Changing Places toilets within Bayside would be a great start. 15.01.2022 Nice work Bayside City Council, Victoria.

15.01.2022 Last year I was selected for the prestigious Pathways to Politics fellowship through The University of Melbourne. As a graduate and alumni of this program, I'm thrilled to see more women running in these October council elections - including 17 women from the Pathways to Politics program (myself included). As someone who has dedicated their whole career to working with and for communities, I know I have the skills, experience and energy needed to represent my local community.... #baysidecitycouncil #bayside #womeninpolitics #womensupportingwomen #womenleaders #communityleaders #leadership #diversityandinclusion #YesSheCan #communitymatters #elections2020 #WomenInBusiness #pathwaystopolitics #diversitymatters #beaumaris #mycommunity #melbourneuniversity https://www.theage.com.au//with-a-little-help-from-their-f

07.01.2022 Look out Where’s Wally - there’s a new game in town and the kids and I call it There’s Mummy Thanks for sending in all of your photos keep them coming - extra points if you’re in them!!

06.01.2022 What a fantastic idea - I recently stumbled upon a group called ‘Dogs on wheels’. The group converts old prams so elderly dogs/dogs in recovery can still get around and be taken on walks They're on the lookout for more prams. If you have a sturdy pram that is not good enough to sell or give to St Kilda Mums, please check out their page below and get in touch with Ian - a local Beaumaris man who converts the prams. Keep an eye out for any on the streets in hard rubbish as well #dogsonwheeels #bayside #baysidedogs #dogsofbayside #dogwheels https://www.facebook.com/groups/353624745792730
