13.01.2022 I'm getting with the times and starting my first online puppy classes! All you need is internet connection and a computer or Ipad. Im looking at starting a 4 week course Tuesday 28th & 30th April at 630pm depending on interest. Limited spaces so book in now!

13.01.2022 REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR TRAINING IN TERM 4. Registration closes 5pm Friday 9th October GOOD DOG BASIC is a 10 week course that will provide you with the b...asic skills to have a well-trained family dog. 18 places available. Course commences online on Zoom, Monday 12th October at 6.30pm. Once we have received your completed form and payment a zoom link will be forwarded to you by email. A manual will be available for those that do not have access to Zoom. Cost is $100 plus $10 joining fee and membership from $15. Payment details to secure your spot are included in the online form. Please click on the link to register. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx To help keep new and existing members, and the wider community safe the club requires strict COVID compliance and therefore we require that you have access to facebook for weekly registrations and updates. Places are limited to 2 classes of 9 members plus an instructor. OTHER CLASSES AVAILABLE FOR NEW AND EXISTING MEMBERS. If you are new to the club and wish to participate in other classes as detailed below, we will need to assess you and your dog to ensure you are in the most suitable class. If you are an existing member and wish to enrol in a new class please register your attendance using the registration link in the Southern Highlands Kennel and Obedience Club (Closed Group). Can you assist us to comply by: 1. Signing the COVID-safe Induction form located in the Southern Highlands Kennel and Obedience Club (Closed Group) facebook page. It is in Announcements at the top of the page. 2. Register your attendance each week, a few days prior to your scheduled class, using the Registration form, also in the Announcements. 3. Checking the Southern Highlands Kennel and Obedience Club (Closed Group) facebook page prior to attendance for updates of any COVID compliance changes or inclement weather that may affect training. Places in each class are limited to 9 members plus an instructor. Classes include: GOOD DOG INTERMEDIATE: Begins Monday 12 October from 6.30pm at New Berrima Oval. These classes are for members that have completed Good Dog Basic and would like to build on the skills they have developed. This is a pre-requisite for most of our other courses. This class uses fun, games-based training to strengthen basic skills by increasing distraction and distance, and is an excellent way to progress with your dog. Cost is $5 per class. OBEDIENCE TRIALLING: Classes are Monday evenings from 12th October, 7.30pm. This is an advanced class for those who have successfully completed Trialling Bridging and is ideal for those interested in competition obedience, or keen to keep improving their skills. Cost is $5 per class. RALLY OBEDIENCE: Next start date is WEDNESDAY 14th October at 6.30pm. This is a more active and less formal form of obedience trialling. Trialling Bridging is a prerequisite for this class. The cost is $5 per class, payable on the day. BEGINNERS AGILITY: Next start date SUNDAY 11th October at 3pm. Agility is a fun sport where your dog works off lead and learns to go over jumps and through tunnels. Pre-requisite for joining this class is Good Dog Intermediate (or an assessment of you and your dog’s skills). Course cost is $50 for a 5 week course upon registration. Places are limited so click on this link to express your interest https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx SCENTWORK: Next start date is SUNDAY 1ST NOVEMBER, Time to be advised. Scentwork puts your dog in control by teaching it to use its amazing nose to find odour and alert to its handler. There are no prerequisites for this class. Cost is $5 per class. (New members will need to pay joining fee and membership fee also). Beginners class will only go ahead if there is interest, so please advise via this page if this is something you would like to do. SHOW SOCIALISATION is a new class being offered and starts SUNDAY 11th October at 1.45pm. This class is for people who want to get their dogs used to being around other dogs on lead. While it is for people who want to show their dogs it is also suitable for young dogs who need a little more socialisation. This is not a class designed to improve your show handling but rather focuses on the dogs lead work at different paces, being relaxed around other dogs while on lead, being approached by strangers, building confidence for judges examination and having some fun. All these skills will benefit any young dog, not only potential show dogs, as they are great life skills for all dogs. This class does not teach basic obedience such as sit and stay. Cost $5 per lesson (Plus $10 joining fee and membership from $15 if you are not a member). Please use the following link to register.
