23.01.2022 There is so much skin care out there and often companies claim they all do the same thing with the same ingredients. Heres a pro tip to spot frauds: Look at the ingredients list. If the active ingredients are further down that list than number three or four they constitute less than 1% of the formulation and probably arent doing a whole lot. Remember that amazing Retinol cream from Priceline? All the retinol derivatives reside a long way down that list and so have only an antioxidant effect rather than all the incredible resurfacing benefits.

22.01.2022 Good morning! I have received many enquires with regard to the whispers that cosmetic injectable treatments can recommence on Monday. Unfortunately this is fake news. A couple of societies who represent plastic and cosmetic surgeons (but have no legislative powers) have suggested our treatments can recommence with the reintroduction of some elective surgeries. The official word from the government is that purely cosmetic procedures are still not allowed. As a healthcare worker I will continue to abide by the instructions of the Chief Medical Officer (although I cannot wait to get back to work in the clinic). Just remember if we do it right the first time we shouldnt have to come back to this again. In the mean time keep up your skincare. 16.01.2022 You may or may not know this but when I’m not in the clinic I work as a mental health nurse in an acute psychiatric inpatient service. Given we’re staring down the barrel of another six weeks of iso, I thought I’d share this because I’ve found it helpful. Not all people who are thinking about suicide will reach out. TASC is a mnemonic that might assist you when bringing up suicide with someone:... T - Tune in. Is there some thing in their behaviour, words or life that makes you think they might be struggling? A - Ask about suicide, calmly, sensitively and directly. You’ve got all these things going on for you, it makes me wonder whether you’re thinking about suicide? S - State that suicide is serious. Don’t laugh it off, downplay their struggle or tell them it’s selfish or silly. C - Connect them with support. If you believe there is imminent risk, call 000. Otherwise help them to find an option that is suitable for them. And offer call with them or involve someone else who can support them (with their permission of course). The prospect that someone we care about is thinking about suicide can be incredibly scary and daunting. It’s hard to know what to say or do. I hope this might help someone to have a tough conversation. Look out for each other folks xx

14.01.2022 The lip flip involved the injection of a small amount of toxin just above the lips to weaken the muscle and turn them out. The results are subtle and generally create a 1-2mm increase in lip size. Its a great alternative if youre wanting a subtle result or youre not sure youre ready for lip fillers.

14.01.2022 As a registered nurse working in the healthcare setting one of our standard precautions for infection control is hand hygiene. The Five Moments indicate when we should be cleaning our hands. Every patient, every time. Hand sanitiser is okay when youre hands are not soiled. If if they are, you must use soap and water. When done correctly and consistently, these five moments decrease infections significantly. To keep yourself and those around you safe, practice these five moments yourself but replace the patient with any other person. If you or a loved one is in hospital, remind any healthcare workers you observe not doing this to clean their hands.

06.01.2022 Lets talk about these. I bet weve all seen someone pull a pair of gloves out of a box before treating us and have felt safe and secure. What you may not realise is that these gloves are used to protect the practitioner NOT the client. No gloves replace the need for hand hygiene. If any practitioner goes to put their hands on you without cleaning them first (yes even the doctors), say something. I know the idea of doing this might be incredibly intimidating for some of you, but whats a few moments of awkwardness if youve prevented yourself from a potential infection? Hand hygiene must be performed before any patient contact, gloves or no gloves.
