13.01.2022 It's that time of year again, and the brigade will once again be holding our annual Santa run on Christmas eve. The runs will be slightly different this year, due to covid. See further details with routes in the comments The routes are a rough guide of the streets the trucks will head down, and depending on the day may slightly vary, so best to listen out around the relevant time, as we will be making plenty of noise. Note that all trucks are fully operational and should a fire call be received we may need to alter the times or routes at short notice, or in the event of a large incident the run will be cancelled.

04.01.2022 If conditions are suitable and it’s safe to do so, our crews will ignite the following planned burns on Wednesday 24 March: Mount Cottrell Downing Street (...near Mt Cottrell Recreation Reserve): 41-hectares of ecological burning to boost the health and survival of important native grasslands and the species they support. Derrimut Derrimut Grassland Nature Conservation Reserve (near Fisher and Paykel Crt): 43-hectares of ecological burning to help regenerate important plant species and support the animals that rely on them. We work closely with the Bureau of Meteorology to assess humidity, temperature and wind speed. Planned burns can only go ahead when the weather conditions are suitable, so plans can change quickly. Under the current public health advice, planned burning is continuing across Victoria. During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we continue to work closely with the Department of Health and Environment Protection Authority to ensure we keep the smoke impacts from planned burning as low as practically possible. Our crews are adhering to appropriate physical distancing and hygiene requirements to ensure we can safely continue our operations across the state.
