22.01.2022 A community afternoon tea to thank the volunteers from the fires is being held today in Cobden at 2.45 pm for a 3 pm start. All residents are welcome to attend.

22.01.2022 The Cobden Relief Centre, based out of the Cobden Uniting Church at 61 Curdie Centre, is full of donated clothes, food goods, toiletries etc. All residents affected by the St Patricks Day fires - whether you have lost your house, property, stock etc are encouraged to call in and pick up parcels of goods, clothing. Please share to ensure all impacted know there is help available thanks to the continued generosity of residents from across the south west and beyond - your community cares!

09.01.2022 HEALTH WARNING: CONCERNS for the health of residents in the Elingamite and Cobrico areas were raised Friday. Residents were notified of possible exposure to carbon monoxide as a result of smoke from the Cobrico peat fire late Thursday night. In an air quality advice issued on Friday morning, residents were warned smoke from the Cobrico peat fire may be currently affecting air quality in the Cobrico area. The air quality in the affected area is hazardous as a result of sm...oke from the peat fire, the information stated. Smoke can aggravate existing heart and lung conditions and can cause irritated eyes, coughing and wheezing. Smoke from peat fires is often more visible than smoke from bushfires due to larger amounts of water vapour. Residents were advised the smoke from peat fires had a distinctive, acrid smell which was different from bushfire smoke. Residents concerned about their possible exposure to carbon monoxide were encouraged to attend the Terang Civic Hall for a health assessment or call Nurse On Call on 1300 60 60 24. See more
