21.01.2022 Life is completely unfair sometimes. You may have seen a post I created last week about a wedding I was 2nd shooting at. The bride, Raphael Skene (and now gorgeous wife of Clint Skene), has stage 3 bowel cancer. It isn't looking good for her. The next few hours/days are critical for her. Her liver is under attack, if it can be cleansed then she has a chance of fighting for her life down in Melbourne. If there is any advice or help people can give (USANA Crew?) or any donation...s to help fund the move and health care costs, please take action now and help save this beautiful, 29 year old, Jazz singer and teacher's life! 20.01.2022 Sheppard's brand spanking new album 'Watching the Sky' has been released today and has already hit Nos1 in the #tunes chart thanks to pre-orders . . Having my love Dean Gordon Drums and our housemate and Co-writer Jay Bovino in the band, I've seen these guys go on some incredible journeys and heard a lot of the tunes being crafted out at home. They've been working incredibly hard over the last few years to pull this album together since the release of their last album 'Bombs ...away' (see last couple of pics from 2014!) . . The album doesn't disappoint with plenty of delightful, foot-tapping, uplifting bangers. One of my faves that I hadn't heard before though has to be Amy Sheppard's 'Live for you' , which explores heartbreak in a beautifully somber and raw emotional way. . . 19.01.2022 I've had the privilege of being asked back to shoot a few events for this wonderful charity since being back in Brisbane. Here are a few snaps I captured at the latest event at The Landing at Dockside, featuring the ever amazing Franky Smart, setting the vibe with her dulcet tones and enigmatic energy and John Hanley, with the most touching and humorous speech I've ever heard. He then followed this by a too brief, but awesome vocal performance with Franky surrounded by his am...azing family, singing along. What a group of wonderful people who set the tone for a successful and fun fundraising event! :-) The MND and ME Foundation is a significant financial contributor towards research into finding a cure for MND. 19.01.2022 I feel very lucky to spend the majority of my time hanging out at Brisbane Camera Hire and Foto Frenzy Pty Ltd. I am constantly inspired by the seasoned pro's who surround me everyday. I'm learning more about the nuances in light and how to work with both natural and artificial sources and am privileged with having access to the resources to help me practice. Even after studying photography for 3 years and practicing, on and off, for the last 10 years, I now feel my eyes are ...opening to a whole new level and i'm learning new things everyday that are essential to my growth as a 'photographer'. There's so much more to it than working out your settings on your camera and getting the exposure and depth of field correct! The way the light falls and the strength of it is so important to play with! 17.01.2022 Day 2 of the B&W Photography challenge. I almost forgot!! This shot was taken on my first day experimenting in the little studio we had at Uni in Exeter. Taken on a Mamiya RB67 PRO SD Medium Format Camera, If I remember rightly. My main focus was on experimenting with depth of field. Miss the days of having so much free time to play with! But one girl with courage is a revolution. Girl Rising, a global campaign for girls’ education, created a film that chronicled the stories of nine girls in the developing world, allowing viewers the op...portunity to witness how education can break the cycle of poverty. The dramatic facts behind the film examines barriers to education in depthearly child marriage and childbearing, slavery, sexual trafficking, gender discrimination, and poverty shows how removing these barriers means not only a better life for girls, but safer, healthier, and more prosperous communities. All funds raised from the evening will go directly towards an upcoming Girl Rising campaign in Guatemala, which will mean working with non-government organisations to deliver Programs, and create new films to educate third world communities to empower girls in refugee situations with the focus being on education."

Last Sat night I popped along to check out The Worriers play at the newly opened Milk Factory in Brisbane's Westend. Having captured Mojo Juju's performance at the same venue, then known as the Joynt, on it's very last night of opening, I was excited to see the magical little place open and pumping with live music again! The Worriers blew everyone away with their energy pack...ed and powerful performance. They even managed to sneak in a little rendition of 'Hella Good' by No doubt (which made me very happy!). 09.01.2022 My passion for photography goes back to the days of film photography, when digital was merely a small (and terrible quality) baby in the hands of companies like Canon and Nikon. I enjoyed shooting on medium format and spending time in the darkroom for hours creating just one image (using multiple negs), using cardboard to dodge and burn (instead of a mouse with instantaneous results on the screen!). Needless to say I am very excited about this workshop which will take me down memory lane and up-scale it to a GIANT 10x8 size negative! If you are anyone you know is interested in film, this will be the daddy of all workshops to get onto! So, pass it on and get booked in quickly before all spaces fill up and I'll see you there! After shooting their recruitment day at the Powerhouse last year it was amazing to see this fresh and vibrant luxury Hotel come to life and open it’s doors yesterday. . . The interior design by Nic Graham is unique, striking and ties in beautifully with the Hotel’s ‘Riverdreaming’ theme. . . Located on the Brisbane river, right in the heart of the city, the views from the hotel are absolutely stunning! To top it all off, the... fun and interactive staff recruitment day really nutted out the cream of the crop to deliver a friendly, funky and uber-helpful team. . . 05.01.2022 Day 1 of the B&W Photography challenge. Thanks to the lovely Andrew Merefield for nominating me! This is a shot I took on 35mm film whilst studying photography at University. I sat in a park which ran adjacent to the beach in Exmouth, Devon and waited patiently to capture a little two-winged beauty in full flight. On my third attempt I managed to snap this one (after an hour of waiting!). I still remember my excitement when processing the film to see how it had turned out! I now nominate Kris Talikowski who studied in Exmouth with me. You need to upload a B&W image everyday, for 5 days (and nominate a person each day). Can't wait to see what you post Kris!
