24.01.2022 As received from Steve Burchill, MAFLQ President last night: There would appear to be some activity of Social Media with reference to easing of restrictions for Community Sport and possible resumptions dates for football. Victorian Premier Dave Andrews has announced AFL Clubs can resume training in groups of 10 from this Wednesday. Other States and Territories have or may be doing the same.... AFL Masters QLD position at this stage is to be guided by announcements made by The AFL and subsequently AFLQ. AFLQ have a meeting scheduled for Tuesday night . No announcement has been made by either as yet although imminent. In the event that training maybe able to resume in some form or another with conditions, it is best we ready ourselves for a resumption by ensuring all players are registered. This will cover all Club Office Bearers in the event of any issues that may arise. All players intending to resume training with a club must be registered. That will include players transferring from one club to another. If we are allowed back on the track a period of training would need to be undertaken before we considered matches. That would apply to any level of football and more important to Masters players. Will be in touch when more information is available . Regards Steve Burchill President AFL Masters QLD

20.01.2022 Home Renovations? Building and Maintenance? Tools and Equipment? Herbert Hall Hardware have it all, and what friendly staff!! Pop in and say Hi to Sarah, Chris and the team, proud sponsors for 2020 of the Gold City Suns AFL Masters!!

19.01.2022 Thanks to all who attended yesterday - unfortunately the state of play remains in limbo, owing to a number of factors, including when contact training can resume (tentatively set down for stage 3, 11 July). We have received a request from the Townsville Sharks for interest in a game on Magnetic Island in around 7 or 8 weeks, but obviously that depends on fitness levels (let’s see everyone committing to train in some form once a week if we can), ground availability and restric...tions lifting sufficiently to allow physical contact and community football games. We have today been advised that there is an extension for memberships from Tuesday 30 June to Friday 31 July, so get yourselves registered with SportsTG to comply with public liability provisions and get down to Defiance Mill Park and have a kick with the boys. Next meeting of the club will be Saturday 25 July at the Commercial Hotel, at a time to be decided, so lock it in for a chat about all things footy. Thanks to Peter and the team at the Commercial Hotel Charters Towers for their hospitality yesterday, they are great long-time supporters of the Gold City Suns!

19.01.2022 Gents, some information on a game for next month...registration required prior to 31/07/20...

14.01.2022 Mark will be down at Defiance Mill Park tomorrow (Tuesday 28 July) from 5pm with a ball - be there or be skill deficient, apparently... Any takers for Maggie Island on Saturday 8 August? Make sure you're registered https://membership.sportstg.com/regoform.cgi?formID=91186

14.01.2022 Hi everyone, if you are keen for a run and a kick of the footy drop down to Defiance Mill park behind the skate park from 5:15pm today.

14.01.2022 Will be down at Defiance Mill Park tomorrow arvo about five. Will hide ball for a bit to watch Mark do his sprint training. Be good to see few get down to have a bit of a run. Bring a couple of bucks for a refreshment afterwards! See you there

13.01.2022 Some extracts from the Industry COVID Safe Plan, based on a field size of 160 x 120m...as applies to AFL Queensland...much more to mull over and have in place before we can commit to a return to the paddock...first and foremost, we NEED registrations in please. Thanks to the following registered players for 2020 who are currently able to train once all our requirements have been met: Frank Beveridge... Mark Devenish Ted Harrington Tony Salisbury See more

13.01.2022 Hope everyone is keeping up their fitness levels, remember, it all helps for when we are allowed back on the park...

12.01.2022 Masters players will need to get back in the groove in preparation for the upcoming game at Maggie Island, 8 August. At this stage I will be down at Defiance Park on a Tuesday afternoon from about 5. Juniors will be training on Wednesday and Thursdays - anyone who can't make Tuesday can wander down on these days for a run (Ted will be in attendance). All welcome however there will be some paperwork to fill out as per covid requirements. If you are keen to play a few games th...is year you will be required to register. Let us know if more info on registration process is required. See you down the paddock. See more

11.01.2022 If you are keen to play on Maggie Island on the 8th please let Ted or myself know so we can advise the Townsville Sharks. I might be a touch late tomorrow but Mark will be down at the ground from 5. We need to sign in on the COVIDSafe log book. This is in the shed near the fridge. See you down there.

11.01.2022 Back in town for a few weeks. See you at The park on Tuesday, around 5-ish. Someone bring a ball or it will be sprints training. Mark.

11.01.2022 We have to keep to the Social Distancing rules, but that doesn't mean that Peter and Glynis from the Commercial Hotel Charters Towers, our Main Sponsor, don't value your custom...the drive-thru is open, and meals are available take-away or delivery. They need your support now more than ever, so help them out like they have helped the Suns out over the years. Fingers crossed we will be able to support them over the bar soon - keep well guys!

08.01.2022 ‘tis getting closer to game time...

05.01.2022 Let’s get this show on the road...by a process of elimination, who is available to start training, and on what day does it suit the majority of players/trainers? Remember you have to be registered with SportsTG to be covered under our Public Liability Policy.

04.01.2022 MEMBERSHIPS ONLINE DUE BY 30 JUNE We will be having a meeting of all members and interested players at the Commercial Hotel on Saturday 27 June 2020 to discuss the shortened 2020 season (COVID-19 Restrictions will apply), from 1:30pm. The AFL could be on the big screen and we want as many attendees as possible so we can formulate a plan going forward for this year, so bring your mates and let’s enjoy the arvo!

04.01.2022 Looking at the COVID-19 restrictions and how they are scheduled to ease, they mention that non-contact training can resume Saturday 13 June... sounds like a silly day to train to me, but if there is a market for it, let the Execs know here... Before we start back up, players need to be registered to have our insurance cover us, so get on and register with SPORTSTG to make it all legit...

03.01.2022 An Update for Club Presidents from AFL Queensland CEO, Dean Warren Tuesday 12 May 2020 Dear Club Presidents,... With the recent announcement of the 3-stage roadmap by the State Government to lift restrictions in Queensland, understandably there is real enthusiasm by coaches and players to get back to training as soon as possible. From Saturday 16 May, Queensland moves to Stage 1 of easing restrictions, where family, friends and community can gather in groups of up to 10 people for outdoor, non-contact activity. Unfortunately in Stage 1, Clubs cannot return to any form of sanctioned training, including groups up to 10. Understandably this will raise many questions. However, later this week we hope to provide you with detailed FAQs, as well as Return to Training protocols, support materials and potential competition guidelines to help you plan and prepare for a return to play. We look forward to providing a more comprehensive update then and we thank you for your patience and understanding. Kind regards Dean Warren Chief Executive Officer
