23.01.2022 This little Red flying fox was snagged on barbed wire today and his injuries were worth giving him a go. There was a tear on his muscle that was being stitched ...but sadly this little Red didn't make it through. Thankyou Natalie and to the vets for trying and giving him a go, sometimes it just dont work out as planned. R.I.P beautiful boy See more

21.01.2022 It was a lovely sunny morning for a group of enthusiastic families and the Mayor to "bring back the buzz" to John Kidd Reserve (Blair Athol) by planting 300 nat...ive trees, shrubs and ground plants. Mayor of Campbelltown George Brticevic pointed out that this was possible thanks to a Federal grant through Dr Mike Freelander MP on top of the funds Council has put in, to help both provide food plants for insects and boost the area of critically endangered Cumberland Plain Woodland. 14.01.2022 Due to Covid this year we could not do our usual wildlife fundraiser, so this year a little something different with the aim being the same and that's raising funds for sick and injured wildlife that are in need of rehabilitation. Every year our Australian Native wildlife come into care for many reasons such as motor vehicle impacts, dog attacks, cat attacks, loss of habitat-tree felling etc and it is the wildlife organisations like Sydney Wildlife Rescue and the Shoalhaven B...at Clinic who rescue, care and rehabilitate the wildlife so a successful release can be obtained. As always, the aim of a wildlife organisation is to get the animal back out into the wild as soon as possible. Both organisations are completely volunteer based with carers being on call 24/7. It's a tireless and very rewarding job and the members who do this are both very caring and compassionate and love sharing their passion with the general public. All money raised at this event will go to both organisations Sydney Wildlife Rescue-South West Branch & Shoalhaven Bat Clinic and go DIRECTLY to carers so funds can be used straight away. Thanking everyone who comes and supports this worthy and very needed cause. https://fb.me/e/1GvYO4Mas
14.01.2022 We got tagged in a post on CLFIP in regards to a Echidna stuck down the drain, Sharon was looking for help for the Echidna. How the echidna was found....Sharon’s daughter Madison thought she dropped her Bluetooth device in the drain out the front of her house and when looking for the Bluetooth device Madison thought she saw an Echidna. With a little bit more investigation she was correct, it was an Echidna. So Madison’s family and members of the neighbourhood joined forces to... rescue the Echidna. The echidna was moving back and forth between the two drains and eventually was Cornered and caught, then Ricardo and Carla-maree attended and picked up the echidna and checked it over. He was a very healthy & strong juvenile who just lost his way, we released him into nearby Bushlands. We don’t know how long he was in the drain system for but we have had reports before in regards to echidnas in drains. A happy ending thank you to everyone involved Mr Spiky has now been given an extra lease on life in the video you can see him stop and eat . See more

10.01.2022 WHEN TO GIVE & NOT GIVE WATER!!! If you have just rescued an animal whether its a bird, possum, koala, echidna, joey etc (this means u have saved & contained an animal) you DO NOT FEED THEM & DO NOT GIVE WATER. WHY??? If the animal is heat stressed and you pour or syringe water in its mouth the animal can actually drown & aspirate and it will die.... If an animal is comprimised after an ordeal (hit by car, animal attack etc) the last thing it needs is food and water. By putting food and water in mouth the same as above can and will happen and force feeding they can choke. Also if an animal is on way to a vet it may be given sedation so food and water is not a good idea. ANIMALS OUTSIDE IN HEATWAVES CAN YOU PROVIDE WATER? YES! Provide water NOT pour water down mouth. Provide shallow plastic NOT metal dishes with water. (If in a public area) The animal can then access water as it needs and no harm is done. Place rocks in bottom to stop drowning and/or sticks across to allow animal to perch and not drown also.
09.01.2022 Poor Borris was attacked by a few dogs this morning He has superficial injuries to his face and mouth. We have given pain relief and he will be released in a few days.

07.01.2022 Look at that face How could you not like those eyes and the cute nose. Not to mention how important flying foxes are to our ecosystem. Did you know that f...lying foxes help to disperse seeds and pollinate flowers. As they can fly great distances they are able to spread the seeds and pollen in many directions greatly improving the gene pool and keeping the forests healthy #drbree #wildlifevet #forthewildlife #byronbaywildlifehospital #flyingfox #befriends See more
