23.01.2022 Who loves training legs? In 5 seasons playing football ive had 9 muscular injuries... !! Due to poor training background. I am having a year off football and dedicating it to building important physical qualities. This is not ideal from a footballing standpoint but it was the best option.... Here are some snippets of my first hypertrophy (low intensity) session of the year with my sick editing skills

13.01.2022 Power and speed testing for Football. Tests Included: 1. Broad Jump. 2. Single Leg Lateral Jump. 3. 10m Sprint 4. 30m Sprint 5. T - Test (COD/agility) 6. 5-0-5 COD/Agility Test... These are useful for knowing my performance level and writing the appropriate programs, as well as testing again throughout the year to test the efficacy of the programs. Even though I won’t be training some of these specific qualities (speed & power) for a little while, I would like to see what my starting point is - and also because some other non-specific training will still have some indirect benefits to these qualities. Watching these videos back I know I can improve just by adjusting technique, although more specific training will be even more beneficial. The 10m sprint is to test acceleration, whereas the 30m sprint is for top end speed, which is why I start the timer at 10m (then run the 30m). IMPORTANT POINT ON AGILITY: It has 2 components: a physical one consisting of your ability to physically make the movement - Change of direction (COD). Which is easy to test and monitor as seen in the video. Though actual agility requires you to react to an external stimulus (auditory, visual etc), your reactions need to be unforeseen, to keep it that way the tests can never really be the same or have really similar components. This is why these tests are not standardised as you can’t keep the tests consistent and record accurate results. You can definitely train agility with stimulus in many ways but to record and monitor the results is probably unviable. It was tough testing the change of direction as the ground was extremely hard and I didn’t get any grip when trying to turn, this may have altered the results slightly. Results are in the video. Endurance and max strength tests to come.
