Whenever we read scriptures, we must first remember that everything we read al...igns itself to the Hebrew Calendar. Leviticus 23:1-3 says: Feasts of the LORD. 1 Then the LORD said to Moses, 2 Speak to the Israelites and say to them, ‘These are My appointed feasts, the feasts of the LORD that you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies. 3 For six days work may be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, a day of sacred assembly. You must not do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD. Many Christians believe that these are Jewish Feasts, but that is not the case. The Lord tells Moses that these are HIS feasts and all people who follow the Lord must obey His commandments, and therefore honour Hisfeasts. This is part of God’s way of preparing us for His Kingdom. The Firstof these mandatory feasts is Passover, where we remember that the angel of death killed the first-born Egyptians, as a ransom for the first-born of the Jews, so that they belonged to the Lord. In agricultural terms in Israel, this is the beginning of the harvest and hence why Jesus is referred to as the first fruits of the resurrection the first fruits of the spiritual harvest. The Secondof these mandatory feasts in Israel is the Festival of Weeks, (Shavuot Pentecost) which is 50 days after Passover and is the ingathering of the main harvest in Israel. It is also appropriate that the main harvest of the church started at this time, with more than 3,000 souls added to the believers after one sermon from Peter, under the powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit. The Final mandatory feast is the Feast of Tabernacles, which is the celebration of the final harvest in Israel for that Hebrew calendar year. This is the only feast in Israel where they blow the trumpets instead of the Shofars, which is spiritually significant, because when Christ appears in the clouds as per 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, He will come at the sound of the trumpets. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so, we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. These words were given by Apostle Paul to the church in Thessalonica to encourage them, and it also applies to us today. As believers in the Church that Jesus is building, we are to be prepared for His arrival at the sound of the trumpets, for the final ingathering harvest of souls of the Body of Christ. Jesus is preparing us, who are presently betrothed (engaged to Jesus) to get ready for the wedding, at a date that He (the bridegroom) has already determined before the creation of the world. But there are hurdles that we all must jump over, to be secure in the knowledge that we will be included in the wedding invitation, as the betrothed of Christ, to be part of the group of believers, who will become the Bride of Christ at His wedding. In Revelation chapters 2 & 3, Jesus tells Apostle John, some 60 years after His ascension, that not all of the church types are acceptable to Him in their present formats, and there must be changes! Jesus does not leave us to try to work out these changes ourselves. He has already identified the items that must be changed, so that we can be blessed and guaranteed entry into Heaven. However, Jesus also identifies the punishments which will be given to those churches which refuse to change, and align themselves with God’s perfect plan. We have recognised during this COVID event that the church needs to change, to become new wine skins, to receive the new wine of revelation from the Holy Spirit. God is preparing us for better things, to take us on a journey to higher places in his levels of spiritual understanding. God is preparing the way for us to enter into His Holy of Holies. Are we ready to take that step of faith, to go where we have never been before, to trust God Almighty completely, with our lives and our futures? God is preparing the way. He has promised to go before us ~~ but are we prepared to follow? That is the challenge to the church in 2020, 2021, and beyond. See more
