Passengers arriving in Cuba as of February 6 will be quarantined, and In...ternational flights will be reduced due to the increase of Covid-19 cases, official sources informed on Saturday. The director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), Francisco Durán, explained that from that date on, passengers arriving in the country would have to comply with the regulatory isolation in institutions designated for that purpose, and not in the communities. Meanwhile, the director of Air Transportation and International Relations of the Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Cuba (IACC), Mercedes Vázquez, said that flights from the United States, Mexico, Panama, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Colombia would be reduced. In the case of Cubans residing in the country, they will be isolated in centers set up in each province. Their lodging and transportation services will be completely free of charge. However, Cubans who reside abroad permanently and foreigners will be taken to designated hotel facilities, and they will have to pay for their expenses. Durán added that tourists, business people, technicians, foreign collaborators, and accredited diplomatic personnel, foreign press, and official delegations would follow the corresponding ministries' protocols. International students and scholarship recipients will comply with the quarantine in facilities provided by the Public Health Ministry. Regarding flights, the IACC air transportation director said that, in addition to the reduced itineraries, the resumption of service from Nicaragua, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, and Suriname continues to be postponed, and frequencies to Haiti are suspended. He added that the airlines must ensure that travellers carry their baggage with them at all times since it is impossible to transfer the luggage of those who are late or authorize cargo flights for unaccompanied baggage. 03.01.2022 Nuevas medidas relacionadas al Control Sanitario Internacional y el aislamiento de viajeros en Cuba. Teniendo en cuenta la situación epidemiológica nacional,... regional e internacional y la necesidad de aplicar nuevas medidas para contener la propagación de casos de COVID-19 en el país, se ha decidido realizar una nueva reducción a las frecuencias actuales de vuelos de las aerolíneas que operan procedentes de Estados Unidos, México, Panamá, Bahamas, República Dominicana, a los que se incorporan Jamaica y Colombia, a partir de las 00 horas del 6 de febrero del 2021. A su vez, se mantiene suspendido el reinicio de frecuencias a Nicaragua, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Surinam y se suspenden las frecuencias a Haití. Se autorizará el arribo de vuelos sin pasajeros únicamente para evacuar personas varadas en el país, extranjeros o personas residentes en el exterior. Asimismo, se implementará el aislamiento institucional al arribo de los viajeros internacionales. En el caso de los turistas, empresarios, técnicos y cooperantes extranjeros, así como el personal diplomático extranjero acreditado en Cuba, la prensa extranjera acreditada y las delegaciones oficiales que se apruebe recibir en el período, se aplicarán los Protocolos aprobados por el MINTUR, MINCEX, y MINREX respectivamente. Los colaboradores de la salud y del resto de los OACEs serán aislados en las capacidades creadas en La Habana y Matanzas, cumpliendo todos los requisitos establecidos. Los estudiantes y becarios extranjeros serán aislados en las instituciones designadas para este fin por el MINSAP y el MES. El aislamiento de los cubanos residentes será en centros habilitados en las provincias y será libre de costo, así como el transporte hacia el centro y el de regreso a su residencia una vez culminado el aislamiento.
