22.01.2022 Following Senior Kindy’s current interest of learning about the indigenous culture and traditions our friends explored and experienced a traditional way of making paint. Offered at the table were some special rocks from the land called Ochre and tools to achieve this traditional paint. They observed the different coloured rocks displayed on the table whilst exploring their senses with the materials. . With the help of Miss Raelyn they ground down the ochre rock using a ston...e to create a powder like texture. The children regulated their emotions by concentrating and focusing on turning these rocks into soft powder. Look Miss Raelyn it’s red, I’ve made red paint;Rebecca explained. Everyone participated in accomplishing the grinding process before adding the water in. Adding water the children helped stir and mix the powder ochre and water together to create a paste. Once they’ve created this paint paste, the children then dipped their fingertips into the paint and began to paint dots and line patterns onto their bodies and faces. Some of our friends helped paint the traditional paint onto their friends faces as well as themselves. It was a very different experience for the children but they enjoyed creating this traditional paint especially painting on their faces and bodies. See more

21.01.2022 To help our Kindergarten children transition to school, we are encouraging families to bring in a lunch box with a few healthy snacks so they can practise opening and closing the lunch boxes, eating whole fruits, opening packet food and looking after their belongings. This will help them identify any struggles they face with our Educators close by to guide them.

19.01.2022 Microscopic Caterpillars Today the senior kindy children extended on their learning about the lifestyle of caterpillars and moths with an experience to look very closely at their body and unique characteristics with a microscope. This allowed the children to have a in depth visual perception of the anatomy of a caterpillar/ worm, this include body shape, legs, and the coating of their skin. This activity provided the children with a disposition for learning through curiosity ...and imagination and developed a range of skills like problem solving and investigating. Here are the responses from the children on investigating these photos: Rebecca- It looks like a dog, but dogs do not eat leaves, its spikey, I think they are worms. Izach- It is a caterpillar, I think? Its hairy. Parker- Looks like a Guinee pig, it also looks like a silkworm, you cannot touch them of they will fly away Lleyton- It is a caterpillar, it has a tail, its scary, it will turn into a butterfly! Jax- It is pretty, it might be a snail, oh its a caterpillar! Thank-you Parker and Paul for donating the silk worms to the centre.

01.01.2022 ALPHABET SOUP SENSORY ACTIVITY in Senior Kindy. In today's adventure the children have participated in a Alphabet Sensory activity. As an extension of their learning interest of letters, Miss Raelyn has planned an excited experience that will build meaningful relationships with letters. ... For this activity the children are to identify and match each letter by recognising the letter magnets in the container and matching it on the printable sheet of paper on the board. This allows the children to solve and work out what letters are missing. During this activity they have interacted and engaged with their friends and educator in a fun and play-based way. For extra fine motor skills development a scoop spoon was added into this experience. Children have problem solved that shaking the scoop spoon allows the sand to sift through the gaps making the letter magnets visible for the children to grab and place on the white board.
