25.01.2022 || Reconciliation Week || In the Nursery today the children explored the area set up with Australian animal & Indigenous puzzles, Indigenous dollies, and drums. They had a look at everything and read the book with Miss Ashlee. I think their favourite was banging on the drum though.... In the Jnr Kindy, Miss Vanessa read a big book about how the became the sun, coming up in the morning and going down at night. 23.01.2022 || Reconciliation Week || To finish up the celebration of Reconciliation week, the children and educators have been exploring activities, books, videos & puzzles that in some way represent or honour the Australian indigenous people. Some experiences offered to the children were, dot painting on Australian animals (Kangaroo & Gecko), using nature as a medium for painting (leaves, tree seeds, coloured sand and coloured dirt).... The children also engaged in Aboriginal art puzzles, Dreamtime stories (Tiddalick the Frog and How the sun was made) and Our Australia book. While the children did these activities the educators talked about what the children were doing and what the activity was about. The children really enjoyed the Dreamtime stories and loved the illustrations and video. We are very lucky to be able to explore these activities with the children to show them just a little bit of the indigenous culture and try to honour them in some way. #reconciliationweek2020 #cubbycarebrownsplains #inthistogether

22.01.2022 Our babies have a new sandpit and outdoor area. They have been ever so inquisitive, exploring their new surroundings. Safe to say its a thumbs up for their new environment!

21.01.2022 || Scoot to School Day || The Junior Kindy children had fun today as they brought their scooters and bikes to kindy. This was an extension of learning about transport. Theyve been focusing on transport for about a month and had a look at a variety of vehicles like cars, trucks, planes, bikes & boats. While focusing on this, theyve moved to safety, road safety. This was a great opportunity to for the children to learn through play and utilise our stop lights and road signs ...with the children riding their scooters and bikes. Most of the children brought in their "vehicles" and gave others a turn too. The children not only learnt about road safety, when to go, stop and slow down but were kind to their friends filling up their Connection Cups by sharing. Well done Jnr Kindy! Lots of learning happening here!!

21.01.2022 || Reconciliation Week || We started off Reconciliation week today with a few activities, and explained to the children about the experiences they were doing. We acknowledged the land and the elders, past present and future at our morning group times. 20.01.2022 || Jnr Kindy Pets || As the Jnr Kindy children are looking at pets and what all the children have, Miss Lisa has her Lizard - Claw! She brought him in for a visit today with his cool Batman leash on. All the children had many questions for Miss Lisa this morning. She brought him outside in the warm sun to sunbath. Miss Lisa explained that the lizards love warming up in the sun and they lay flat out on the ground and their black lines on their back gets bright so it warms them... up quicker. Most of the children had a pat of Claw. He felt spiky, smooth, bumpy and rough, said some of the children. 18.01.2022 || CPR... Refreshed || Monday night, the educators refreshed their CPR skills to keep up to date with the latest changes of resuscitation. We used new maniquines that had lights to show when we were doing the correct depth and rhythm for CPR to be effective. We all practiced on babies and bigger ones and also refreshed ourselves on the use the defibrillator. #allcarefirstaid #cprsaveslives #cubbycarebrownsplains

16.01.2022 || Kindergarten - Letter "S" || This week the Kinder children have been looking at the letter "S". The children made sunflowers, snakes and spiders for the letter "S". They also did a great STRETCH activity with some lycra material. They all sat in a circle and listened to the instructions on the Interactive TV. They all used their stretchy muscles to pull, and move the material up, down, in & out. ... Its great to see the children learning so much every week, all getting ready for their Big School adventure next year! #letteroftheweek #cubbycarebrownsplains #kindergartenprogram

13.01.2022 || Aussie Animals in Snr Kindy || The Snr Kindy room has just been reopened!! It was closed due to Covid and minimising use of space. But now they are back in action and ready to learn, create and discover! Over the past week, they have been looking at Australian Animals, which is great, because they all had so much to say about them. We learned from the children that Koalas live in trees and eat leaves, kangaroos jump...a lot and kookaburras laugh really loud (the impersonat...ions were amazing!!) This is an ongoing subject at the moment and have just started it, so Im sure there will be so much more to come.. They matched the animals (like a bingo game) designed Cockatoos and Lorikeets and watched a cartoon from Youtube about Australian Birds. 13.01.2022 || Letter of the week in Kindergarten || This weeks letter is "R". The children sat with Whaea Christine and brainstormed all the things that start with "R". Some of them were Rocket, rabbit, rainbow, Roman and a robot. I went in for a visit on Tuesday to check out what they were up to...and they were pretty busy! ... They were making rainbows, with coloured paper and cotton balls, marble painting on rabbits (rolling the marbles onto the paper) and moulding playdough into rectangles. All the children were working so hard and did a great job. You guys are going to be too smart at Prep!! #kindergartenrocks #cubbycarebrownsplains #letterr

11.01.2022 || Babies and their Bubbles || What interests our bubbies?? Bubbles of course!! They love their bubbles. They look so mesmerized by them and its a perfect activity to explore early science & hand eye co-ordination. They spend so long watching and popping them, trying to catch them and even used paddle pop sticks to pop them too....smart chickens. 11.01.2022 || Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day || Today we celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander childrens day here at Cubby Care Browns Plains. We did a range of activities to reflect our respect for the indigenous culture of our country. We took inspiration from the land and incorporated it into our experiences. All the children started the day by acknowledging the country and the Yugambeh people.... Our JK room made cool headbands that were decorated with flowers, different leaves from trees at kindy and gumnuts. They also painted beautiful pictures using sticks. SK explored outside, trying to find Koalas using binoculars...and they found one...yay. They also used sticks to paint the tree thats in front of our Aboriginal mural. The other classes incorporated activities into their program to celebrate this culture, like painting, watching traditional dance videos and learning about the totems of both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. #cubbycarebrownsplains #nationalatsichildrensday

09.01.2022 || From Transport to Community Workers in Jnr Kindy || For the past couple of months our Jnr Kindy children have been on a big learning journey. They started with transport, looking at trucks, cars, trains, scooters (Scooter Day) and boats. They made trucks, trains and cars, learning about shapes and colours as well as what trucks are used for and discovering whos been on a train. They then extended to Road Safety (incorporating this into Scooter Day). They learned about tra...ffic lights and what the colours meant, how to cross the road and learned about street signs. This then extended to Community Workers. Theyve looked at Firemen, Policemen, Ambulance Officers, Doctors, the Postman & what they all do. Over this time all the children had help making a fire engine, practising a fire drill, making fire and police hats and a mail box to post their very own letters in. They fixed each other with bandages, took temperatures and listened to the dollies hearts. Victorias daddy sent us some cool activities to do from the Police station, this was so fun and Tori was super excited to tell us all about them! #cubbycarebrownsplains #communityworkersarethebest #roadsafety

08.01.2022 || When I Grow Up...Dress up day || Post 1 Today was super cute. We had so many of our little kiddies dress up in what they would like to be when they grow up. We had a Fireman, Doctors, Superheros, Elsas, Astronauts, Police, Construction worker and Spaceman. More to come...... #cubbycarebrownsplains #whenigrowup

07.01.2022 || Ambulance and Police Visit || Last week, we were so lucky to have a visit from the Ambulance and Police officers. Throughout the center in the last month or so some of the rooms have been looking at fire safety, road safety, community jobs and calling 000.... The Ambulance ladies talked about what they carry in the ambulances and showed the children a big First Aid kit. They showed everyone how to use a bandage and even wrapped some of the Kinder kids arms and legs. She listened to their hearts and let them have a turn as well. The Police Officers showed the children their car and put the sirens and lights on to show them. They talked about dialing 000 if we have an emergency and let everyone have a look at their handcuffs...cool

06.01.2022 || Fire Safety In Kindergarten || Over the last couple of weeks, our Kindergarteners have been focusing on and learning about Fire Safety. Theyve learnt to call 000 for the fire and police, their addresses to tell the emergency services, what to do in case of a fire, weve practiced our fire drills and waiting on a visit from the Fire Department.... The children have engaged in fire related activities, like, making fire hats, a fire truck, police & ambulance out of boxes, read lots of books, watched Youtube videos about having a fire plan and what to do when there is a fire, made camp fires and lots more. #cubbycarebrownsplains #firesafety #getdownlowandgogogo

04.01.2022 Did you know that at Cubby Care Browns Plains, New Zealand culture is integrated into the childrens learning? Its all thanks to the help of our wonderful kindy teacher, Miss Christine. In this video, youll see our Browns Plains children singing Morena, a Maori greeting song the children sing each morning with Miss Christine. The children sign to Morena with the actions resembling the land, the sunrise, the children, the teacher, our friends and everyone. Miss Christine is our Kindergarten teacher, and she emends her Maori culture into the kindergarten program daily. Thanks for teaching us about Maori culture Miss Christine, we love learning with you!

All the children have had a great day to day, doing cooking, making playdough, decorating PJs (on paper) and hanging out with their friends. 02.01.2022 || Beach Bowls In Nursery || In the Nursery theyve been looking at the beach, what swims in the ocean, what you can find on the sand and the textures of the sand and water. Yesterday, as an extension of learning with texture, they made some beach bowls. This included, blue wobbly jelly, crushed up milk arrowroot biscuits and sea lollies (fish & stars).... We gave all the children a bowl and encouraged them to touch the jelly, biscuit sand and lollies. The results were great and all the children got messy and had a ball....it also tasted pretty good too!

02.01.2022 || Cupcake Day in Snr Kindy || Yes, thats right, the yummiest day eva! Our Snr Kindy children cooked up a storm making chocolate cupcakes for Aleias birthday!! We all shared the jobs, cracking eggs, mixing, pouring the milk, adding the butter and putting the batter in the patty papers.... All had a great time and cant wait to eat them!!
