25.01.2022 A couple of less usual suspects slimed the better brag on the weekend. Tarpon had a few good runs on the tiny Stradic FG, while the snaps wasnt much of a match for my 15lb setup. Was hoping for a bigger model, but a bit of fun nonetheless. New video is up! https://youtu.be/SgDoQMXhNPU

25.01.2022 Just bouncing a switchblade through a school on a 6lb setup then BOOM! The drag was set light because my 12lb had just been snapped by the previous hit.

24.01.2022 Way back in January the Better Brag really proved itself! I was out in the middle of the Terranora broadwater, nowhere near the shore, and with nowhere to roll out a soft mat.

23.01.2022 An unexpected pickup on the sand flats!

22.01.2022 When you want to get to the bass as quickly as possible, its time to break out the 5m fibreglass ocean kayak! ;)

22.01.2022 A hard slog at Maroon Dam almost got a lot harder, and more expensive than a SIPS permit!

20.01.2022 As the cold sets in its getting harder and harder to drag myself out of bed at these ungodly hours. But it always ends up being worth it!

20.01.2022 A little video i put together a while ago, in the dark with an old camera, of how the mats are cut and covered. I really need to make up a jig... And it used to be called the brag-yak before it became the better brag. I like to think the new name has wider appeal, but whats in a name?

19.01.2022 Trying some new things for an easier to deploy, even more durable mat. Thats why its called the Better Brag, theres always room for improvement! Brass screws, gloss finish, and a new elastic which doesnt need tightening. Just unroll as much mat as you need and its popped and ready to rock! Ill give this a big saltwater test over the next month and see how it fares.

19.01.2022 How’s that for a view from next to the camp fire? The rest of the weekend was overcast and blowing a gale, but it was worth it!

18.01.2022 The cheap Mavic Mini is about as much drone as you’d want to have out on the kayak, especially when you’re brushing trees with the props! Edit: This is a repost to try to get the resolution higher, but it's still verrry low with all of thr correct settings on. Hmmm..

17.01.2022 A hard-working little winter lure, the 1/2oz. TT Switchblade. Versatile, cheap, and Aussie-owned.

17.01.2022 Too windy to take the kayak out, but it was a good time to scout a new launch point with the XT3.

15.01.2022 The less comfortable you are when fishing, the more the fish seem to like it! Kurwongbah was quiet when we kicked off the session, but things turned around just as we got smashed in the face by a storm, and the action didnt let up after that. Catching a rare yellowbelly at the bottom of the rainbow was a bit of a cliche, but a welcome one.

15.01.2022 Every time I head out Im grabbing that b-roll footage just in case the session turns out well! Heres another practice run out at Lake Manchester.

14.01.2022 Heres a vid of the action from the weekend. Things get a bit wet and wild!

07.01.2022 Took the Stonewash Better Brag out to throw plastics at some shallow water bass. Biggest went 45cm, but these guys are way skinnier than their big dam brethren. The chinlockz weedless rig is invaluable when it comes to fishing right through the weed beds.

07.01.2022 The tango shad with the internal foil is my favourite one, turns out mackerel don’t mind it either! Caught up at Bribie on the camping weekend.

06.01.2022 Ive ordered the parts needed to finish this next project, the RodPort, which turns any existing flush-mount rod holder into a Railblaza starport. Just slap it in, turn the screw a few times, and it wont budge! Heres the very rough prototype. The end feet are getting replaced with silicone inserts, and the foam cylinder will be an EVA ball which sits deeper (i only had short screws on hand). It will fit any standard rod holder, angled or straight. Cant wait to get these fitted on my kaskazi to get the reels up out of the splash zone.

05.01.2022 Time to have a bit of fun with the video intros. I have loads of new stuff to try out, stuff to keep improving, like how i forgot to wire myself for audio before shooting the scene. The audio for the rest of the video was recorded off a lav mic and sounded way better: https://youtu.be/5aAcoKdr1f0

04.01.2022 The shots from this new Fuji X-T3 are FANTASTIC to print! This is a fairly big 30x45cm in semi-gloss, but it could handle blowing up to a metre for that big print energy. This is a RMG Poltergeist 50 crazy deep after an epic session at Kurwongbah a couple of weeks back. Weve been having some pretty amazing sunsets recently!

02.01.2022 Lake Manchester, from sunset to stars. I did spend a few hours throwing lures, but only got a few hits which pulled the hooks. The water was down to 16.5C, which seems pretty cool for bass to really commit. Stars were good though!

02.01.2022 Magnets, perfect for holding comp tags!

01.01.2022 Finally hit the salt again after a loooong run at the lakes, just checking out Nudgee at low tide to see if ive got a new local. Few flat ones and bream were about, hopefully well convert a few whiting on surface this summer there too!
