25.01.2022 The Cubs Old Boys would like to wish all our members and sponsors a Happy Easter as we head into the long weekend. In celebration the Old Boys have a South Sydney Indigenous Jersey to give away for the best video to come through to us from a past Gracemere JRL player, coach, volunteer or parent that addresses the following questions: Share a highlight of your days playing with Gracemere JRL? The best player you played with, coached or witness at Gracemere JRL and why? Most... annoying team mate or player you played with or coached at Gracemere JRL and why? Why do you think it's important to have the Cubs Old Boys? Please share you name at the start of the video and it will be uploaded to our Facebook page and shared amongst members. The Management will select the best video and award the prize at the end of April. Be Creative and have fun!

24.01.2022 Congratulations to former Fitzroy Gracemere player Matty Dwyer on winning the September Cubs Cash Draw with number 6. Runner up with number 24 was past Cubs Junior Matty Ryan. Massive thank you for all those supporting the Cubs Cash draws, money raised is aimed at bringing back a COVID Safe Old Boys Day in 2021 Next draw will be on Saturday October 10. 24.01.2022 If there is any past members willing to help out the Gracemere JRL for the 2021 season please reach out. Its extremely tough for all sporting clubs during these challenging times and many clubs need the support of volunteers to keep them going!

23.01.2022 The Cubs Old Boys are in the process of developing its Strategic Plan and we are open for consultation. In one sentence complete the following: "Gracemere Cubs Old Boys exists to..... This will become our Vision or known as our (Why) statement. All feedback will be collated and will assist the Management Committee in bringing this document to life.

20.01.2022 Last week the Gracemere Cubs Old Boys were successful in obtaining $20,942.80 through the Queensland Government Gambling Community Benefit Fund to develop a website and purchase IT equipment. This funding will keep members up to date on events the Old Boys are conducting but more importantly provide a platform for current and past members to gain information on how the Gracemere Junior Rugby League club was built and continues business today. The Cubs Old Boys management committee will be seeking ideas and content for the website so if you would like to contribute please email [email protected] or message us through Facebook.

17.01.2022 Congratulations to past Gracemere JRL Volunteer Jody Philp who was the Winner of the August Cash Draw with number 19. Past Player Matt Lorraway was runner up with ticket number 43. If you are keen to support the club, please see numbers still available for the September draw. All money raised assist the organisation with insurance costs associated with running the Cubs Old Boys. Please message us if you are keen on a number for the month of September or multiple months. 17.01.2022 With the announcement of the Rockhampton Junior Rugby League going back to an Under 17 competition the Old Boys thought they'd share their Inaugural Under 17 team from 1999. These lads made up of players from Mt Morgan, St Brendans, TCC, Rocky High and Grammar Player. Majority of the team were 16 year olds to finish 3rd in the competition. The club last won the Under 17 competition in 2006 coming from 4th to defeat the Yeppoon Seagulls. Just a reminder that the Club will be holding their AGM on Saturday 14th November from 4pm at the Rocky Leagues Club. Be great to see many past players and volunteers come along.

11.01.2022 Congratulations to Michael McCaffrey who is flying high after taking out the June Cash draw with number 28 over the weekend. Also congratulations to Dale McDonald for claiming the $50 with number 12. If you are keen to support our July Cash draw please let us know and we can send some further details. 08.01.2022 As the Old Boys continue to acknowledge NAIDOC week we would like to pay tribute to the Clubs first ever NRL player in Sam Joe back in 2009. Sam was a border at St Brendans college and a premiership winner with the Cubs U16 (2005) and U17 (2006). This week the Old Boys were informed that former Junior Michael Purcell who is signed with Brisbane Easts has been asked to do a preseason with the Storm. Hopefully the Second Cub to play with the Storm - Good Luck Mick!

After seeing a great fundraising initiative from the Fitzroy Gracemere Rugby League Club, the Old Boys committee have adopted a similar concept with a Monthly Cash Draw. Guidelines have been developed and we ask anyone interested in purchasing a number to either use Messenger or email [email protected] for an entry form. This initiative is planned to assist around Insurance costs for 2021 so we can support our community next year by conducting th...e annual Old Boys event with Gracemere JRL. 08.01.2022 Cubs Flashback- 1999 Under 12 Grand Finalist going down to Fitzroy Sharks by 2 points. Few handy footballers in this team. This Age group finally got their premiership in 2003 winning the Under 16 Age Group after finishing runners up in both the 2001 (U14) and 2002 (U15) Grand Finals

06.01.2022 The Gracemere Cubs Old Boys committee would like to inform all past players and members that the organisation will not be participating in any contact sport event in 2020 due to the increasing cost of Insurance. The committee is currently exploring options around still hosting an event this year with an announcement in the coming weeks. Whilst 2020 won't see a footy team partaking the field in any format, the committee is exploring alternative options to see as many players done on the Green and Gold and wear the emblem of a Cub in 2021. 04.01.2022 2003 was a great year in the Rocky Junior Rugby League Competition with the Under 15 team getting revenge on a talented Brothers outfit after going down in the Under 14 decider in 2002. This was the first time the Cubs had claimed the Under 15 title since the 2000 Cubs team that defeated Fitzroy Sharks.

04.01.2022 Congratulations to past Gracemere Junior Rugby League volunteer Ray Johnstone (2) in winning the $200 November Cash Draw. Past Player Shaun Ezzy (29) collected $50 with the second number. Once again thanks to all those who have supported the monthly cash draw since May. Our next draw will be on Saturday December 12, if keen on a ticket please let us know as every dollar raised supports the Old Boys around the delivery of events.

03.01.2022 In Celebration of NAIDOC week the Gracemere Old Boys would like to thank all the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lads who have worn the Green and Gold over the past 24 seasons of Gracemere Junior Rugby League. The theme of 2020 NAIDOC is Always Was, Always Will Be - recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players/volunteers of Our Club will Always be recognised for their contribution and pride in wearing a Cubs jumper!

03.01.2022 The Gracemere Old Boys held their AGM over the weekend with the following management committee being elected for the 2019/20 Financial Year. President - Ben Lorraway Vice President - Matt Dwyer Secretary - Michael McCaffrey ... Treasurer - Jess Connelly The Old Boys would like to thank Steve Lorraway as inaugural President who stepped down from the role. Steve was also the inaugural president of Gracemere Junior Rugby League and will continue to volunteer with the Old Boys at various events. Congratulations to all members elected and the Old Boys committee look forward to putting on some great events in 2020.
