25.01.2022 Songs of Healing are an important part of the journey towards Reconciliation in today's Australia, and on Sorry Day 2020 we would share the Ngangkarri Women’s Group message of strength, resilience and healing sung for Stolen Generations, families and communities. National Sorry Day is a day for commemoration, mourning, reflection and reconciliation. It marks 23 years since the Bringing Them Home Report which was tabled in conjunction with the National Inquiry into the separat...ion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families and communities. 23.01.2022 This is an interesting, and welcomed, development, as reported by the NIRS - National Indigenous Radio Service: Non-Indigenous retailer YARN Projects has apologised and withdrawn a claim to trademark the word Tidda after more than 13,000 people signed a petition titled ‘Stop Trademarking Culture.’ Tidda is an Aboriginal word meaning Sister, Aunty or Mentor and can also be used when referring to female friends.... The change.org petition started by Yarli Creative states: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should continue to have the rights to use our languages and not have this taken away from us, especially by non-Aboriginal people. The initial claim was lodged on the 2nd of June 2019 but as of July 27 2020 a withdrawal notice had been lodged with IP Australia. YARN projects issued a formal apology on their website which reads I apologise for the hurt this has caused the Indigenous community. 17.01.2022 The #didgeridoo is a marvel when it comes to creating music and mood. It also captures the sound and movement of #Australian #native #creatures such as the #kangaroo, #kookaburra and #snake. In this video, taken at the IWC complex in #Bundaberg, Byron Broome of the Taribelang Cultural Aboriginal Corporation takes us through the #Aussie #bush by didgeridoo Sharing culture is one of the ways Cultural Healing and true Reconciliation is delivered across our communities https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otbt9YIU5O4&t=102s
16.01.2022 The work of Aboriginal community-driven organisations such as IWC is to be commended. They deliver Reconciliation in Action every day, and partner with Kultchafi Services to deliver Cultural Healing services across Australia.
16.01.2022 Here's a first that is building bridges between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples ... through the comic book arena. Because, in a first in Suicide Squad's 33-year history, there is an Aboriginal Australian superhero. According to the ABC, Thylacine is the first Indigenous Australian character ever in Suicide Squad, a fictional supervillain team published by DC Comics. The character has night vision, heightened senses, lethal combat skills, Batman-like stealth, and a steel...y suffer-no-fools gaze. https://www.abc.net.au//aboriginal-superhero-thyl/12136148 #equality #equity #reconciliation #superhero #suicidesquad

08.01.2022 The Australian Indigenous Doctors' Association has welcomed the signing of the comprehensive National Agreement on Closing the Gap. The announcement today brings the most accountability we’ve seen in an agreement affecting the governments’ treatment of First Nations’ Peoples, said AIDA President Kris Rallah-Baker. By attaching real targets to these priority reforms and involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the review process the effectiveness of progra...ms targeting health outcomes for our Peoples can be measured. Pat Turner AM, CEO of NACCHO and Co-Chair of the Joint Council, was Lead Convener of the Coalition of Peaks and made the announcement today alongside Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Indigenous Australians Minister Ken Wyatt. https://www.aida.org.au//20/07/AIDA-MEDIA-RELEASE-COP-.pdf
