25.01.2022 A beautiful obituary for Ron Cobb who died last week in Sydney, at the age of 83. Although most people won't know who he was, you will have seen his work and ideas in many sci-fi films and series, as well as his environmental work. "I mean, this was the guy who designed the DeLorean from Back To The Future, the guy who created the spaceships in Alien and the aliens in Star Wars. He was the guy who made his main income from NOT directing E.T. and who was banned from entering Australia in 1971 for being a troublemaker. Surely, he deserved some Aussie recognition." 08.01.2022 We're sad to hear that Sir Ian Holm, The Lord of The Rings' Bilbo Baggins, has journeyed into the West.... He was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Olympic running coach Sam Mussabini in Chariots of Fire. He also played the android Ash in 1979's Alien. If you have been watching SBS recently, you may have spotted him during their marathon showing of The Fifth Element, alongside Bruce Willis.... And these were just a few of his many roles.
