25.01.2022 Great to see a Crake on the CBOC outing Bushells Lagoon.

23.01.2022 Each season has it's highlights, such as more raptors in the cooler months.

23.01.2022 June 6, 2018 Wednesday 8.30am Scheyville National Park Car park at Scheyville National Park headquarters off Scheyville Rd, between Dormitory Hill Road and Long Tan Place, Scheyville. Leader Keith Brandwood

22.01.2022 Although most suburban parks contain 'duck ponds' not many people are familiar with our waterfowl

22.01.2022 There was a Pom, an Aussie and a Yankand they were all Avocets!

22.01.2022 A break in the weather gave me the chance to check out the old Riverstone Meatworks settlement ponds, strategically located between the Hawkesbury and Homebush ...wetlands. As these two sites become innundated due to flooding, the shallow ponds above the flood plain offer ideal feeding habitat for endangered migratory shorebirds. If you don't want to see one of Sydney's most important wetlands destroyed to make way for housing, please let the Dept. of Planning know by Friday. https://www.planning.nsw.gov.au//Priori/Marsden-Park-North

20.01.2022 A very pleasant outing today at Wisemans Ferry and Mill Creek, with 57 birds observed or heard. The Pied Butcherbirds showed very well, but the Blue-faced Honeyeater only gave us a fleeting glimpse. Many people saw and heard a pair of Glossy Black-cockatoos and a Large-billed Scrubwren was very obliging. Thanks to Adrian Dick for taking over from Keith as leader.

19.01.2022 Nice to see these big birds still hangin' in on the Cumberland Plain

19.01.2022 A very enjoyable outing to Annangrove this morning led by Gabrielle Rees [Thank you :) ]. Bird of the day was a female Gang-gang Cockatoo, followed by a male Rose Robin. We also had close views of a Common Bronzewing Pigeon, lots of Eastern Yellow Robins and a White-necked Heron on an aerial! About 65 different birds were seen and I hope our visitors and members enjoyed their morning.

09.01.2022 Dear Cumberland Bird Observers, I am looking for local experts who know where to find the birds. I am a wildlife student filmmaker over in London hoping to come out to Sydney in April to make a film on how animals live and rely of the Eucalyptus forests that cover Australia. What I need is some species of birds that I can: Tell a story about with a link to eucalyptus ... Get close enough to film (with a long lens) Have a guarantee of seeing when I come over If anyone believes they can help, the tiniest bit of advice could help make this film! Any help will be given credit for the film as well. I will be staying in Sydney so the closer the better but will have access to a car. Typically filming an animal will take at least a week/2 weeks with a guarantee of them showing up. Please get in contact with me at [email protected] if you think you have a story or a place to find these birds! I am currently researching a story about the mistletoe bird and how they can deposit the seeds on eucalyptus trees (a parasite sequence). Thank you again for you help! I look forward to hearing from you and your team! Best wishes, Zoe -- Zoe Cousins MA Directing and Producing Science and Natural History National Film and Television School (NFTS) Royal College of Arts

08.01.2022 Looking forward to a nice chat with Chris Bath this evening

06.01.2022 This wetlands attracts a rich diversity of rare and endangered birds, many of which will be doomed if it is destroyed to make way for yet more housing. Submissions close at the end of next week: www.planning.nsw.gov.au//Priority-Growt/Marsden-Park-North
