24.01.2022 Severe Thunderstorm Warning The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:50 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Springwood, Bilpin and Spencer. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Woy Woy, Penrith and Terrey Hills by 4:20 pm and Richmond, Mona Vale and Warragamba by 4:50 pm. Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging winds are likely.... The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.



19.01.2022 Starting last Tuesday night and continuing over the coming weeks, our members are taking advantage of the quiter season so far, to practice their skills through scenario based training. These scenarios are run just like a real incident would be. On occasion we may also replay a fire or event that has previously occured. 19.01.2022 Members of Cumberland Communications Brigade have started to receive the NSW Bushfire Emergency Premiers Citation for their outstanding contribution during the 2019/2020 fire season. These awards recognise those who served both on the front line and behind the scenes. The NSW Premier stated... This citation is thoroughly deserved for the thousands of volunteers and emergency services personnel who put their safety on the line to protect lives and properties. Equally deserving are those recognised who provided critical behind the scenes support." Congratulations to all NSW RFS members and other emergency service personnel receiving these awards. Morag

14.01.2022 Each year on the second Sunday in October, we pause to remember those volunteers from emergency services who have paid the ultimate sacrifice while protecting their community. Sadly eight names, all NSW RFS volunteers, have been added to the memorial. We will never forget the service of Michael Maria, Phillip Bell, Ian Long, Robert Panitz, Geoffrey Keaton, Andrew O’Dwyer, Samuel McPaul and Colin Burns. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Sutherland, Camden and Campbelltown by 1:00 pm and Bundeena, waters off Stanwell Park and Helensburgh by 1:30 pm. Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging winds are likely.... 04.01.2022 DETAILED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING Damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 12:15 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Theresa Park and Warragamba. These thunderstorms are slow moving. They are forecast to affect Glenbrook, Cobbity and Mulgoa by 12:45 pm and Blaxland, Badgerys Creek and Bringelly by 1:15 pm....
