24.01.2022 We have had requests on bread recipes for bread machines using our First Quality Unbleached Bakers Flour. Here it is.

22.01.2022 We had the pleasure to host group 1 trainer Gordon Richards & his wife Jacqui at the mill this morning. Gordon being our first horse feed customer and loyal ever since he had a first hand look to see where and how his High Performance Grain Mix and High Performance Pellets are produced. After doing a round trip of breeders and owners having inspected weanlings on Eyre Peninsula they travel back to Adelaide today. Gordon's quote was that Butterfield's Cummins Mill feed "won't make radish win a group 1 but will make him perform to his best"

22.01.2022 Freshly made today with one of our premixes. Currently we are short on our premixes but rest assure they will be back in stock within the next couple of weeks. We have been overwhelmed with the support of everyone South Australia wide within the last month. Currently milling long hours to catch up.

20.01.2022 How do you prevent flour weevil infestation in flour? What a timely question with the amount of flour that is in most of Australian pantries atm. Flour weevil is a very common harmless beetle that likes to feed on cereal grain & cereal grain based products like flour. It is most prevalent during warm humid conditions. They are harmless however can make a mess of the pantry & if it is a heavy infestation can affect the quality of the flour. The question is how can I prevent an ...infestation in my flour once I have it home? Here are a few ideas which are easy & inexpensive 1) Store flour in freezer or put in fridge in a plastic container this will deter the eggs from hatching. It is recommended that you also keep your dried yeast in the fridge or freezer as well. 2) Store in a air tight container with a dry bay leaf or 2 in it in a dark cool area of you pantry or cupboard. 3) Use flour regularly or buy smaller amounts if you are not going to be using regularly. 4) Keep pantry or shelves clean. Sometimes it doesn't matter how clean you have things if the temperature & humidity is right they will hatch. If you find a small infestation you can sieve the flour to remove the beetles & the flour will be fine to use. If you feel the flour has been affected to much or can't be bothered sifting you can always use it for play dough HAPPY BAKING (if you are after some recipes I find taste .com is excellent. Most of all to all our customers have a Happy Easter stay safe by staying home.

It is also mental health awareness week our local Suicide Prevention Committee Empowering Lower Eyre dropped off cupcakes made by our local bakery with our flour with a self care pack. The main things that were shared was exercise, healthy eating, good sleep & concentrate on breathing correctly. Mental health is not only important in our personal lives it is also important in the work place. Also Happy Birthday to Dylan our youngest employee. LOOK OUT FOR YOUR WORKMATES.

09.01.2022 Ever wondered what you could do with our range of premixes if you have not got a bread making machine? Well here you go 31/2 to 4 cups of premix flour 11/2 cups of warm water 1 tablespoon active dry yeast 2 tablespoons of canola or vegetable oil... 2 tablespoons sugar or honey 1 teaspoon of salt Once all mixed knead for 4 to 5 minutes then let rest in a warm spot til dough doubles in size. Knead again for another 4 minutes then divide into even portions, roll them into balls & place on oven tray. Let rest again until double in size & then place in a pre heated oven at 200c for approx 15 to 20 minutes. Brush with melted butter after cooked. All I can say is yummy. These rolls are with our Soy & linseed premix.

06.01.2022 UPDATE We have had to make a couple of decisions this morning which will not affect the supply of flour but it will save our staffs sanity & stress. We will be doing everything in our power to supply the Eyre Peninsula with flour. However we have made the decision not to take phone orders UNLESS you can pick the order up yourself or by someone else organised by you through the Sales Office. We will be prioritizing freight to all our resellers across the EP this supply will no...t stop. We do ask for your patience through this trying time for everyone. EP will not run out of flour. We also ask that you respect social distancing when you enter our premises, all areas are thoroughly cleaned several times a day & we prefer paywave payments rather than cash. Hopefully we will all be back to normal soon. In the mean time stay healthy & safe. From all of us here @ Cummins Mill

On the menu were open sandwiches using our Soy & Linseed Premix & Beehive sweet buns with butterscotch sauce using our Wholemeal Premix. The students run their own cafe every Friday at their school. They took back various flour products to be used within the cafe as well as their own personal use.
