19.01.2022 It was great to be able to acknowledge the Transcription volunteers yesterday, with a morning tea held in the Library including partnership representatives from District Council of Lower Eyre Peninsula. As Mayor Quigley said, without volunteers, our community would be a lesser place, and these ladies have been working diligently over the last months, to ensure Council history is preserved, for which we are all very grateful. Currently, transcription of historic council minute...s has been completed for every meeting from 1899 - 1911, which is an incredible achievement, as the original documents are hand written in predominantly Copperplate format, and not necessarily easy to read. Feel free to visit https://www.lowereyrepeninsula.sa.gov.au//historic-minute- and view the minutes that have been exported from the online transcription site. We recognise and appreciate the time and effort of our volunteers, Georgia and Julie from the DCLEP, for their continued work in photographing minutes, uploading and now exporting files, which is no easy feat, as well as the History Trust of South Australia, for part funding towards our worthy project. Transcription will extend into the future, as handwritten Council minutes continued until circa 1945. If you are interested in being part of this worthy project, please contact the Library on 86762476. See more
