16.01.2022 If you are heading out today, be COVID safe. Please remember: Keep 1.5 metres from others whenever and wherever possible. Wear a mask when you can’t physi...cally distance (such as at the shops). If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, even if mild, get tested and stay home while you await your results.

16.01.2022 WE ARE IN LOCKDOWN FROM MIDNIGHT South Australia will be locked down for six days as of midnight tonight. People will be restricted from going outside of... their homes only one person per household will be able to leave the home each day, but only for specific purposes. The South Australian Premier Steven Marshall says the measures are a necessary circuit breaker to allow for a contact tracing blitz on cases linked to the Parafield cluster. There have been two new cases of coronavirus cases in SA, both linked to the Parafield cluster. There are now 22 cases directly linked to the cluster and a further seven suspected cases. SA Health authorities say they are at a critical stage in their investigation and are urging anyone who went to, or ordered takeaway from the Woodville Pizza Bar between 6 and 16 November to immediately self-quarantine and get tested for coronavirus. The Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier says the particular strain of the virus is breeding very, very rapidly with a short incubation period of about 24 hours, and with infected people showing only minimal symptoms. Professor Spurrier says authorities have acted to shut down the community, because waiting any longer would see South Australians incur similar lockdowns to Victoria. From midnight the following facilities will be closed: All schools, except for those servicing children of essential workers and vulnerable children Takeaway food Universities Pubs, cafes, coffee shops and food courts Elective surgery, except for urgent operations and cancer treatment Open inspections and auctions All outdoor sport or physical activity Construction industry Factories other than food and medical products Other restrictions will include: FIFO work will be stopped for six days Regional travel is not approved Aged care and disability residential facilities will be in lockdown Holiday homes will not be available for lease or rental Wedding and funerals will be banned for six days Masks will be required in all areas outside of the home Exercise will not be available outside of the home The following services are considered essential and will remain open Water power and telecommunication Supermarkets, but they will be limited in terms of access Medical including mental health, supplies and access to services Public transport Airport and freight services including courier services Petrol stations, access to financial institutions and postal services Essential parts of mining, smelting and large factories Childcare but only for families of essential workers Veterinary services and Agricultural workers

14.01.2022 Can you feel that summer is right around the corner? We’ve got some hot weather on the way in South Australia, so let’s take action to prepare and be safe: - Se...rvice your air conditioner by cleaning or replacing its air filters according to the manufacturer’s instructions, so it’s working before you need it. - Prepare a cool room in your house using air conditioning, fans, curtains and blinds. - Plan your days to avoid going out during the hottest part of the day. - Know if members of your family, friends or neighbours are at particular risk in the heat and make a plan to check on them regularly. And, when it is hot, remember to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and take steps to keep cool, such as wearing loose light-coloured clothing and using cool packs. Don’t forget your petsmake sure they have plenty of water as well! For more tips on how to be prepared for hot weather, visit our website. https://www.ses.sa.gov.au/heatwave/

06.01.2022 In the lead up to International Men’s Day this Thursday, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the men at the SA State Emergency Service. They will share some of... the highlights of being an SES volunteer as well as what they would say to others out there who are thinking about joining the SES. Say hello to Desmond, a volunteer at the Sturt SES Unit. Enlisting in the SASES was possibly the best decision I made since my wife and I moved to SA last year. The SASES provided me with an opportunity to learn and understand the Australian culture through engagement with unit members and with the community at large. There is a great sense of camaraderie and partnership between members and the same is awarded to new members creating a very inclusive and welcoming environment. Desmond says to others out there thinking about joining the SES that there are opportunities to network, upskill and review skills, engage and interact with the community, increase social inclusion, develop a new sense of purpose and motivation, build self-confidence and self-esteem, and much more!

06.01.2022 Total Fire Bans have been declared for Tuesday 10 November 2020 in the following Fire Ban Districts: Northwest Pastoral - Severe West Coast - Severe Eastern Eyr...e Peninsula - Severe Lower Eyre Peninsula - Severe Yorke Peninsula - Extreme Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted. The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow. The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan. FIRE DANGER RATING Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire. Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Severe, well prepared and actively defended houses can offer safety during a fire. If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option. In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions. Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight. Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions. For further information contact the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1800 362 361 or visit www.cfs.sa.gov.au
