05.01.2022 Wondering what to wear to Melbourne Cup? As a rule of thumb, the day to the races is an elegant affair. While there is no dress code for General Admission at ...Flemington, inside the Member’s Enclosure is a very different story. Men and women are dressed to impress in all their finery. This meant a suit and tie for gentlemen, and a dress of respectable length, accompanied by a hat or fascinator for the ladies. The Melbourne Cup is a day for colour, Whilst other days in the Spring Racing Carnival are more sedate: the Derby Day is black and white, Oaks Day is Ladies Day, and Stakes day is a more relaxed theme. Gentlemen, make sure you have some fun with a perfectly co-ordinated shirt. Ladies, you may choose accessories in contrasting colours as long as they complement and complete your outfit. Do not overdress and look like a Christmas tree. Whatever you choose, make a statement, dress smartly but elegant!
