22.01.2022 Sharing one of my favourite producers from the Barossa for you to check out! @hartofthebarossa is a family run winery which I first discovered at the Good Food and Wine show a while back we were at their stall quite early in the day and managed to spend over half an hour chatting away to their owner Alisa Hart about the wines and what they’re all about. Safe to say there was some wine purchased from them They also have the oldest block of certified organic vineyard in the... Barossa Valley with vines that were planted back in 1902 since they were planted, they’ve maintained sustainable farming. The red wines in particular are on point and oh so food friendly with exceptional quality vs price. Over the weekend I cracked open the 2017 ‘Ye Brave’ Shiraz (Hence why it’s out of this pic ) - it was stunning. It took a little while to open, but when it did, it was balanced with beautiful fruit and spice. Delicious oak and vanilla flavours with plum and blackberry on the palate, very food friendly! It’s amazing to see this family run winery producing the quality of wine at the price they do they are one producer I’ll always keep going back to as they tick all the boxes, plus it’s the best feeling being able to support Aussie wineries! 11.01.2022 Valentine’s Day is just around the corner personally I think everyone should be swapping roses for Champagne Anyway! That aside, are you planning anything for V-day? This Gosset Rosè is a favourite of mine and oh so perfect to spoil someone with, or just to treat yourself because, why not! ... I first tasted this Champagne on my last holiday overseas (just before the madness of 2020!) - it was so delicious I literally ordered more bottles of it as soon as I got home! This is my last bottle and it’s looking like a great Valentine’s Day option It’s delicate, but luscious and so inviting on the palate with a delightful pink colour. A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a small amount of Pinot Noir red wine also added in the blend, giving it a lovely strawberry and red fruit flavours with soft spice. It’s light, it’s fresh, it’s floral, it’s perfect - one to win hearts. 11.01.2022 While in the week leading up to V-Day we all love a good rosé to get amongst! This is the first wine I’ve tried from Lebanon, from the Bekaa Valley region! Have you tried wines from this region before? Let me know your recommendations! In the glass: a blend of Syrah 70%, Tempranillo 20%, Cabernet Sauvignon 10% - fresh, acidic, with minerality and filled with luscious red fruits of strawberry and raspberry. No oak influence in the winemaking process, keeping this one lig...ht and bright with a resemblance of the rosés we see from France How the rosé was made? With lots of TLC and by the Saignée (‘San-yay’) method, which is not as common of a method to produce rosé Starting as a red wine fermentation usually would, all the skins and seeds sit in the juice and ‘macerate’ getting all that goodness from the grape into the juice in simple terms, and before fermentation kicks off some of the juice is ‘bled off’. This portion separated is your rosé, and it kicks off its fermentation separately to the rest of the batch! Not only is the rosé fresh and fabulous, but the winemakers end up with a more concentrated, higher quality of red wine left to ferment a win-win for us all!
