08.01.2022 Thinking of a country wedding? They’re all the rage at the moment. Looking for a venue which radiates the tranquil charm and romance of the bush, yet has contemporary appointments? The Curban Community Hall offers the rare appeal of a rustic, authentic mid-twentieth century country hall, with its corrugated iron cladding and tin roof. But step inside and you will discover every modern convenience at your finger tips, starting with a completely refurbished, spacious, state-of-...the-art kitchen boasting reverse-cycle air conditioning, 2 stoves, 2 microwaves, bain-marie, fridges, freezer, large mobile work bench and plenty of room for caterers to spread their culinary wings. A modern amenities block attached to the main building provides convenience and comfort. The hall itself boasts reverse-cycle air conditioning and dimmable lighting to ensure the perfect atmosphere. The acoustics are superior due to the wise choice of sound-sensitive lining material, and the neutral colour scheme gives hirers a blank canvas on which to create their own piece of magic. No need to hire all those extras which add so much to the overall cost. There are tables and chairs, crockery, glasses and cutlery to accommodate 100. Recent additions to the long list of inclusions is a new Roland 88-key digital piano and a new 65 flatscreen TV on mobile stand - perfect for slideshows or other digital presentations. Microphones and amplifiers are also available. Though older in style, they perform well. The building is surrounded by concrete paths with wheelchair access to both hall and amenities block. There is a covered paved area at the back with barbecue if required. The hall sits in extensive grounds and gardens, with an abundant expanse of luxurious green turf, all of which is lovingly maintained by the dedicated Hall Committee. Such attractive grounds make the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony. Timber bench seating is available for outside use. Two tennis courts at the rear are also available for hire, and the entire complex is securely fenced. Located approximately 21 kms north of Gilgandra NSW, this venue sits comfortably within its rural landscape, amongst the grazing stock and seasonal crops surrounding the hamlet of Curban. It is within an hour’s drive of Dubbo, and ample accommodation is available in both Gilgandra and Dubbo. The Curban Community Hall is a success story among a sea of lost rural halls. Years ago it was in danger of a similar fate but was rescued by a passionate group of Curban locals who continue to work tirelessly to maintain and improve this wonderful community treasure.
