17.01.2022 Spring has Sprung. Keep a close eye on your female puppies as they may come into season. It’s an ideal time to have them Desexed. Spey or castration is a fairly non invasive surgery that our little ones recover from after about 10days. While recovering from a desexing operation it’s important to keep them quiet and confined. This doesn’t mean crating them the whole time. It just means jumping, stretching & free running should be prevented until the stitches come out. After t...he first 5 days your Vet will likely recommend light exercise. Like a A little walk. Keeping their minds occupied is also important. Kong toys, raw meaty bones. Chicken wings , necks or Drum sticks can provide hours of non active entertainment. Castration is important for our male dogs, this prevents roaming and behaviours like putting their leg up on furnishings etc. Head Buckets, Buster collars, or what ever you may call them are ideal for preventing our young puppies from licking or chewing their sutures. The collar can be removed while your home and can supervise your puppy but one should be put on if your puppy is left unattended. Daisy pictured below is recovering well from her Spey, She is wearing her Buster Collar and is trying her hardest to behave and not jump around. Daisy a beautiful example of a Curious Cavoodle !!
