17.01.2022 Well folks, we've just put in a SECOND grant with Newcastle Council for the Made In Newcastle project, fingers crossed it goes ahead! Meanwhile... Its time to rally behind a voice for the Arts in the Hunter - specifically the independent artists who breathe life into this community. For too long our voice hasn't been heard, with a continual undervaluing of the work independent artists create. So... we want to change this.... Leah fron NAS and Mitchell from Curious Legends are holding a meeting for ALL the independent artists working in the Hunter. Our aim? Gathering the individual voices of artists together to make change happen! Our term for artist is broad - ANYONE working in the visual, performative, musical, or creative arts! Keen to get involved? Here's the scoop: Friday, August 28th @ 7pm Newcastle ArtSpace, Islington (max 20 people) and ZOOM (HEAPS of people!) 17.01.2022 Made. In. Newcastle. Lululululuuuu!!!! Its happening folks, the Made In Newcastle project is live, and going through the final stages of getting our agreement sorted with council. We've started getting in touch with everyone who wrote letters of support, and we'll have more info out soon re EOI's for everyone - keep watching this space! But first... we're putting in an even BIGGER grant to fund even MORE Newcastle greatness!!! Leah from the Newcastle Art Space, Zack & Ella fr...om Fingers Crossed Creative, and Mitchell from Curious Legends are pitching to RISE for funding to keep gigs going all throughout 2021. Ambitious - certainly. Possible? Of course!! So - this is where you come in. If you missed the boat with a letter of support the first time, here's your chance! We need to show the RISE grants panel just how much supporting the arts in Newcastle means. We need your letters of support to get EVEN MORE funding across the line. Here's what you need to do: - Write a letter of support for Made. In. Newcastle. In it, say how hard your arts practice has been hit by Covid, and how getting funding from this project would help. - Outline your professional arts practice, and what you do. - Include your contact details. This is crucial. At the very least, include your email. - Email your letter by 11:59pm Sunday, September 27th to: [email protected] Keep in Mind: - Letters need to be a seperate word doc or pdf - don't just include them in the body of your email - Support letters are HEAPS stronger when they come from each artist personally. Please don't include other people in your letter - if they are keen, ask them to put in a letter themselves! - Writing a letter of support doesn't guarantee you work if we get the funding, however it DOES guarantee you get the first look in when we're planning the project. Catch you soon peeps!

15.01.2022 Lululululuuuu!!!!! Duckie L'Orange is now LIVE from our Facebook page!! Come join Duckie to make the CRAZIEST theatre accessories for your performance pleasure!!!!

14.01.2022 Made In Newcastle is GO!!! Mitch from Curious Legends and Leah from Newcastle Art Space are thrilled to announce we have been successful in our grant application to the City of Newcastle SBR funding round. This was $90k from council for us to use in this project - our aim is STILL to get 80% to 90% of this funding out to artists. So - NOW the real work begins and we get to organise some cool events and creative sessions helping Artists and the wider community emerge from ou...r covid cultural hiatus. So - what's the next step? If you sent us a letter of support for this grant, we'll be in touch with you soon. There were around 50 letters... yep, its gonna take some time to go through! You can expect to hear from us over the next few weeks. We're aiming to kick-off late November, and run through March 2021 - we'll have more info up soon. In the mean time... Project Announcements and discussion will be on our 'Rallying Call' Facebook group - go here to join: https://www.facebook.com/groups/rallyingcall Also, LIKE the NAS and Curious Legends Facebook pages to stay in the loop: NAS Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/newcastleartspace Curious Legends Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/curiouslegends Catch you soon folks!
