We will also be unable to take walk-ins on the night. Takeaway will still be available, however we would like to take this opportunity to remind customers that only the Friday night menu is available for takeaway. 16.01.2022 Have you wondered why our straws break so easily? All our packaging is bio-degradable, including our straws and lids. Curlew Cafe is working towards reducing our impact on the environment as much as we can, and biodegradable packaging is a step towards this goal. Our new biodegradable straws break easily, and while this can sometimes feel frustrating, it is an important part of their design. Turtles, like the ones living in our bay, have an attraction to plastic debris floa...ting in their home, confusing it for jellyfish. Sadly, many turtles starve to death while feeling full from the amount of plastic in their stomach. Some turtles even suffer from straws passing from their oesophagus to their nasal cavity... something that can be prevented with straws designed to break under pressure rather than bend. The design of our biodegrable straws allows them to splinter in a turtle's jaws, and then continue to break down if swallowed. And that is if they haven't already broken down before making it that far. So our fragile straws may feel frustrating, but they're designed to help protect our beautiful bay.
