22.01.2022 THIS IS AN UPDATE AND CALL FOR HELP FOR PADDLE STEAMER CURLIP. The community based volunteer works to to save Curlip have been in temporary shutdown, firstly with the Bushfire Crisis and State of Emergency from November 2019 into autumn 2020. As we are all aware and living through the COVID 19 Pandemic, the ability of our small committee of retirees to travel, work on the vessel in our limited legal capacity as volunteers and more importantly our ability to fund raise from ou...Continue reading

13.01.2022 Lots happening behind the scenes at Paddle Steamer Curlip. Grant applications are being lodged, it seems we have an agreement in principle to continue with our monthly tenancy on the Paddle Steamer Curlip Repair site after our meeting with East Gippsland Shire and DELWP. Your committee of management will hold our Annual General meeting soon with a date to be advised. As we move forward into 2021, we hope to close the year 2020 on a positive note after a very unfruitful year f...or Paddle Steamer Curlip. Like most in our community we have suffered with the Bushfires then compounded by the Covid Pandemic. As we come out of the year that has been... we look forward to returning our little Paddle Steamer to service on the Gippsland Lakes as a major contributor to our communities' Bushfire and Economic Recovery. Our aim is to become a leading contributor to the ecotourism led recovery for East Gippsland and the Gippsland Lakes. It's all about community working together... See more

12.01.2022 Doing some Steam powered vessel research while on holidays in New Zealand. Today's vessel... The TSS Earnslaw, a 1912 Edwardian vintage twin screw steamer plying the waters of Lake Wakatipu in New Zealand. She is one of the oldest tourist attractions in Central Otago, and the only remaining commercial passenger-carrying coal-fired steamship in the southern hemisphere. At 165 ft she is massive, but the same regular tour principles apply. She cruises every 2 hours, for $75.00 pe...r head. A great cruise and a good study vessel as we get closer to planning our Gippsland Lakes tour itineraries for Paddle Steamer Curlip. Coming out of the bush fires and our depressed economy in East Gippsland, Paddle Steamer Curlip will be perfectly positioned to add permanent and part time employment, boost tourism and value add to other associated tourism, accommodation and hospitality businesses... a new economy for East Gippsland. #paddlesteamerresearch #steampoweredvessels #neweconomy See more

07.01.2022 Please find attached the minutes of our last P.S.Curlip Inc committee meeting, held June 19, 2020. In that meeting, the then unknown terms and conditions of our pending lease renewal were tabled and discussed. An email of no confidence in the then, Chairman Gary Plumley had been circulating around Paynesville. In that meeting, the offer of the Chairman's resignation was tabled in a genuine attempt to pave the way forward for those (or any faction) who had made claims of exper...Continue reading

04.01.2022 Another snapshot of the exciting ecotourism future planned for Paddle Steamer Curlip. Once funded and installed, our Clean Green Steam, Renewable and Sustainable energy system for solar electric power, hydro and wind turbine power and storage systems, reverse osmosis fresh pure water fuel generation and much much more. The original diesel electric boiler and steam engine are retained for primary propulsion, these modifications will allow Curlip to travel the entire Gippsland ...Lakes without the need for 500 litres of pure water per hour, or for dock power and heavy diesel consumption gensets for in house catering, refrigeration, AV and lighting. Curlip will be a vessel that will be used to teach, train and educate our communities and schools via engaging Citizen Science and interpretive learning that will bring a new era of water based ecotourism to the Gippsland Lakes... Just one of many exciting ecotourism programmes for our future... See more

04.01.2022 This condensed 6 minute video, is a snapshot of just a part of our 2020 promotional material for Paddle Steamer Curlip. (If it is a bit to fast, tell us and we will expand the timing between slides) It covers our future direction and planning. It details our plans for boosting East Gippsland and Victorian Tourism, BOTH Domestic and International. We outline how we will strategically work with other community groups for the common good and promotion of our region. More importa...ntly we detail how we will employ members of our East Gippsland Communities, and leverage synergistic tourism opportunities for other East Gippsland tourism, accommodation, hospitality, transport and general business opportunities. It's good news but without a CENT OF Government Grant funding over the past 3 years, we have relied on the donations and small crowd fund schemes supported by "ordinary people who have displayed extraordinary generosity".
