24.01.2022 Curra Residents FYI- The fire on Harvey Siding Road has hopefully been contained within control lines, Curra RFB will be conducting periodic perimeter checks to ensure it remains contained. I would ask Curra residents to be aware that very High fire danger ratings are expected to develop through northern and eastern Queensland this week with warmer than average conditions spreading across the southern half of the state . 20.01.2022 RURAL FIRE SERVICE NCR LOCAL FIRE BAN NOTIFICATION A Local Fire Ban will be in place from 23 55 hours on Monday 30th November 2020 until 23 55 hours on Monday 7th December 2020. The Ban will affect the following Local Council Areas - Bundaberg, Fraser Coast, Gympie, Noosa, Sunshine Coast, South Burnett, Cherbourg and North Burnett. All Permits cancelled. 18.01.2022 There are a number of fires going at the present time in the North Coast area, the smoke you are experiencing is most probably from the Kilkivan/Widgee/Blacksnake fire. If you want to know more about the fires in our area, you could visit the www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au website and click on the Current Bushfires tab.



17.01.2022 Qld RFS crews have been deployed to NSW, to help with their bushfires, So many areas have been impacted, but the hospitality we were treated to down there was amazing. Let's hope they get some rain soon. Julie.A.

17.01.2022 Just letting you all know that the Local Fire Ban has been extended to 2359hrs Monday 30th December. You will all have noticed the smoke in the air and know of the fires around us, so I urge you all to stay vigilant and to get your Bushfire Safety Plans ready.... if you want to know more please contact me on 0412 752 705. 17.01.2022 LOCAL FIRE BAN CANCELLED...... The current Local Fire Ban in place until 1400 hrs on 27th January 2020 will be cancelled from 1200 hours on 20th January 2020. Fires where the material to be consumed exceeds 2 mtrs in any direction will require a permit, available from the Fire Warden - 0412 752 507. Small fires, under 2mtrs in any direction do not require a permit, but the usual care and precautions should be taken. Thank you all. Julie.

10.01.2022 We have had a few questions about mowing and whipper snipping - currently there are no restrictions on these activities, however it is advised that if the grass you want to mow is very dry and the risk of the mower blades hitting a rock and causing sparks to ignite the dry grass, then you would be best to have a filled knapsack, hose or other water supply handy in case it is needed. - Julie, Curra Fire Warden

This situation will not change until we get significant rainfall across the region, so I ask you all to remain vigilant and watch for any fires in the open - call me on 0412 752 507 if you have any questions. 04.01.2022 A State of Fire Emergency has been Declared across 42 Local Government Areas in Queensland which includes Gympie Regional Council area, this prohibits the lighting of all types of outdoor fires, and bans certain activities that can cause fires to ignite, and it bans fireworks and the lighting of any outdoor cooking fires. The declaration also prohibits welding, grinding and the use of oxy acetylene cutting or heating outdoors.
