24.01.2022 To our followers. Hope your all well. Please find some inbound weather warning.... We are if needed. Ring 000 and we will be there to help.

23.01.2022 Across the state, 26 volunteer Peer Support Officers work with the CFS and SES to provide a range of mental health services for our personnel. The team provides... a range of services and support the work of Mental Health Professionals in helping our personnel comprehend and emotionally handle the incidents that they attend. Peer Support Officers help facilitate group sessions where personnel can talk through their shared experiences as well as one-on-one assistance for volunteers in their local brigades. They also assist the SPAM program by providing follow up phone calls after callouts and deployments. The 26 volunteers receive intensive training in stress, trauma and suicide prevention recognition and support, and 10 of them are specifically trained to deliver Stress, Trauma and Suicide Prevention sessions for volunteers on training nights. Also, the Peers are often deployed with our CFS crews to provide immediate psychological first aid to our crews. While COVID-19 may have put halt to face-to-face meetings, the SPAM program and Peer Support team have remained busy calling and speaking with our volunteers. They are an invaluable group of volunteers, and we are so thankful to them for all that they do! #ColouryourCommunityRed #SAVolunteer #NVW2020 #NationalVolunteerWeek #thankyoufiries #morethanabushfireservice

19.01.2022 Last night we worked with Goolwa Country Fire Service doing some 'cold burns' to remove the grass around these trees and help prevent fires in the area over summer. Have you got your place ready for fire danger season yet?

19.01.2022 To the farmers struggling around the area. Have a look into this. Team CC.

19.01.2022 Fire season is fast approaching. For everyone that needs information on building a survival plan, well make the 18th October a date at the Tooperang Hall. The CFS Engagement team will on had to help ever make that plan.

18.01.2022 Do you charge your phone, tablet or laptop in or on your bed? SA Metropolitan Fire Service Commander Phil Crossley told ABC’s Sonya Feldhoff they have seen an... increase in fires caused by electronics during the cooler months and wants people to be mindful where they are charging their devices. People do charge their phones, laptop and tablets on their beds or under their pillow. Our recommendation is that these devices get charged on a hard surface that’s not flammable and has an air flow around them as they can generate heat during charging. Having them on the bed or under a doona they don’t have an opportunity to then vent to the surrounding area and can potentially overheat and ignite.

16.01.2022 At midnight tonight FIRE DANGER SEASON will be over. We have had a busy year both in SA and interstate with many emergency services lives lost over the season. Brigade would like to thank the community for the support as well as our brigade members and their families during this time.... Thanks Currency Creek CFS.

10.01.2022 Currency Creek CFS extends its heartfelt condolences go to the family of Chief Superintendent Joanne Shanahan and to the members of the SA Police. The brigade thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues at this time.

10.01.2022 On this day 19 years ago, 343 Firefighters ran into the World Trade Center doing their job and never returned. 60 Police Officers didn’t return home from that shift. 8 EMT/Paramedics heard their last call and didn’t return home.... Today we remember their bravery and sacrifice.

09.01.2022 Total Fire Bans have been declared for Tuesday 10 November 2020 in the following Fire Ban Districts: Northwest Pastoral - Severe West Coast - Severe Eastern Eyr...e Peninsula - Severe Lower Eyre Peninsula - Severe Yorke Peninsula - Extreme Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted. The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow. The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan. FIRE DANGER RATING Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire. Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Severe, well prepared and actively defended houses can offer safety during a fire. If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option. In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions. Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight. Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions. 09.01.2022 CFS Fire Weather Briefing Live stream from CFS

09.01.2022 The CFS is known for our amazing volunteer firefighters, who drop what they are doing and jump on the back a truck at a moment’s notice. But the CFS is so much ...more than a bushfire service, and so, we’d like to take National Volunteer Week as an opportunity to pay tribute to those who contribute in other ways to support our organisation. Operational Support members provide a range of valuable behind the scenes support to crews on the ground. Without our radio operators at the base and logistics officers ensuring crews get the equipment and resources they require, they simply wouldn’t be able to respond to the incidents they get called to. Even ensuring the equipment is cleaned and functional after each use, makes all the difference in safely responding to incidents. The all-important catering crews provide an absolutely crucial role in making sure our volunteers in the field are fed and hydrated. And after every incident, there’s always paper work. Enter our volunteer administrative officers, who make sure that the brigades can safely and effectively function. To everyone who supports our volunteers in being able to safely protect their community, we say, thank you! #ColouryourCommunityRed #SAVolunteer #NVW2020 #NationalVolunteerWeek #thankyoufiries #morethanabushfireservice

08.01.2022 Hi all remember to slow down when you see the Red and Blues. We need to be kept safe out there.

06.01.2022 Before you harvest, check your equipment and make sure you have your farm firefighting unit close by when out in the paddock reaping. Why risk it? Plan ahead. #bebushfireready #5minbushfireplan

06.01.2022 Key messaging for bushfire safety in SA given COVID restrictions From midnight tonight, a six-day initial stage of ‘circuit breaker’ restrictions will be implem...ented to protect the South Australian community from the spread of COVID-19. These restrictions may affect how you follow CFS bushfire safety advice. Review your Bushfire Survival Plan using the up-to-date advice on the SA Health website www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVID-19 UNDER LOCKDOWN During this initial restriction period, you can only leave your home for limited reasons. This includes during a bushfire emergency or if your home is unsafe. Some relocation destinations in Bushfire Safer Places will not be available due to these COVID-19 restrictions. - Cinemas and other public venues will be closed. - Visits to shopping centres are for essential food shopping only If you plan to stay with relatives or friends when you relocate to a Bushfire Safer Place, consider alternative arrangements if your plan is to stay with elderly relatives or immuno-compromised relatives or friends. This will reduce the risk of exposing vulnerable people to COVID-19. If you are in self-quarantine or self-isolation due to COVID-19, you can leave your home if you are in an emergency or your home is unsafe but try to get back into self-isolation as soon as you safely can. During an emergency, if you need to attend an emergency relief centre or a Bushfire Last Resort Refuge, you need to stay outside, alert emergency services (e.g. SAPOL, relief authorities at the location etc) and follow instructions. You must ensure you advise emergency services that you have been forced to leave self-quarantine or self-isolation due to the emergency and that: - you are a close contact of a known COVID-19 case - you have recently tested positive to COVID-19 or if - you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or - you are in self-quarantine because you have recently returned from interstate. UNDER RESTRICTIONS State government restrictions are in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This may affect how you follow CFS bushfire safety advice. Leaving early during COVID-19 will be a little different this summer. While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, you can leave your home during an emergency or if your home is unsafe. Consider the following in your leave early plan to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19: During COVID-19 restrictions you may travel if you are doing so as part of your bushfire plan. If you are unwell or have symptoms, isolate yourself from others and ensure you always wear a face covering and get tested as soon as possible. Add to your 'Emergency Kit' - Additional face masks - Hand sanitiser - more than 60% alcohol - Antibacterial wipes Follow SA Health COVID-19 advice - Wear a face mask - Practise good hygiene. Wash or sanitise your hands when you enter someone else’s home, if possible - Do not shake hands, hug or kiss as a greeting - Maintain physical distancing, keep at least 1.5 metres away from others
