23.01.2022 ‘Maybe if I was older. Maybe if I was larger. Or smaller, or prettier, or uglier, or gruffer. Maybe if I was something else I would feel like I existed.’ Little Girls Alone in the Woods by Morgan Rose, is a whip-smart adaptation of The Bacchae that puts a contemporary feminist lens on the Greek legend of Dionysus, the god of wine, fertility, festivity, theatre and ritual madness. 22.01.2022 Well done Meyne! 'The Wongutha-Yamatji man is the first Indigenous artist to win any of the prizes on offer at the Archibald prize in its 99-year history. Already a widely recognised actor, Wyatt made headlines when he performed a powerful four-minute-monologue from his play City Of Gold on ABC’s Q&A in June...... Most of all I want to thank my mum, who encouraged me to enter the Archibald prize in the first place and gave me the courage to be so bold, Wyatt said. In a way, that is the essence of the painting and what it reflects to be bold.'

19.01.2022 Katie Pollock's play NORMAL opens at Canberra Youth Theatre tonight! ~~~~ The play is inspired by the story of nearly two dozen girls in Le Roy, New York who began to experience involuntary twitching in 2011. A controversial diagnosis of mass psychogenic illness followed, which found the symptoms were a result of heightened attention from news and social media... "I think it's quite a provocative play. It asks quite provocative questions at quite a deep level, disguised as t...his mystery of how this thing happened. Really the invitation is there for audiences to enter it and think deeply about those questions. Questions about capitalism, about society, about social responsibility, about ... expectations on our young people," Pollock said. Actor McKenzie Battye-Smith said the parallels did not stop at exploring viral transmission. "The play deals with so many of the social anxieties that coronavirus has activated in our communities - fear, vilification, and the othering of those who are seen as a threat," Battye-Smith said.
