Mixing it with sight seeing, relaxation,and the joy of new experiences, a perfect combination, How we, will miss this wonderful couple, who came , saw our dilemma, stepped in and ran the 'Packing 'Shed', with skill, imagination, and exuberance, We are deeply grateful. With love,... Peter, and Jan. On an ordinary note, we have to tell you how hard it is to source quality produce, that we do not grow. So many Farmers are suffering, drought devastating their crops. The weeks ahead are going to be difficult, we shall continue to do our very best to provide you with the best of what we are able to obtain. 24.01.2022 Dear Customers, We have not been very good communicators, and at a time of uncertainty we regret that. Our unknown factors were outside the needs , and regulations, brought into play by the Corona virus. Our circumstances were complicated by Peters' surgery, his needs thereafter, and how soon he would be able to be a part of the Packing Shed, whilst taking care of himself, and still giving you, all of the available options. We think we have worked out a good, and workable... balance, giving you access to the Packing Shed between 8 a. m., and 11 a. m. on Saturday, and Sunday. On these days you will be able to collect your water, and pick your vegetables as before. The vege. garden has'nt been great, as Peter struggled with his illness, but post surgery he is full of enthusiasm, and, has been regularly replanting and will continue to do so, as we wish you to have the full complement of vegetables to choose from. We are unsure of how the Government see businesses , and open Market places, and as soon as we know we shall, let you know the full amount of what we are able to offer. We hope to be able to return to our former Organic growers, who provided us with produce that we did not grow .As soon as we are given the information we seek, we shall pass it on to you. We thank you again for your patience, and good will, and we look forward to seeing you at 'Harvest'. Meanwhile we hope you remain fit and well. 23.01.2022 A Friday message from Andrew - aka Andy’s Coffee I can now confirm that this weekend shall be my last show at CVH. The past 6months of running the operation at Harvest, ive gotten to meet an abundance of beautiful people that have become more than just customers to myself & CVH. The stories and smiles will forever be treasured as its been one heck of an experience for me personally. ... Im truly grateful for the acceptance first and foremost from Peter / Jan for providing an opportunity to step in and reinstate what CVH is all about, to Brad (B-rad - The one & only) & all the staff who have supported my energy and work which couldn’t of been done without you guys, as I know the importance of having a reliable & trustworthy team, makes work life that little more easier and of course the amazing individuals that visit this place of peace each and every weekend - you guys provided so many laughing memories, warm hugs and insights to your lives, that makes me appreciate every minute spent at harvest, so thank you from the deepest part of my heart! 20.01.2022 Dear Friends, and Customers, A beautiful week, weather wise. The virus either resting, or retreating, and all of us feeling we may be on the way to some form of normality. In our part of the woods, with the warm, and balmy days, we are seeing spurts of growth, and abundant new crop soon able to be picked , there is still mature crop waiting to be picked., and for those who like to pick up freshly picked kale, parsley etc. it will be waiting for you... We have recommenced purchasing our Organic growers produce, and have a full selection of greens , beetroot, carrots,, tomatoes, celery, sweet, potatoes, pumpkin, potatoes, onions etc., etc,. The main thing which we have ceased to purchase is fruit, and will only be supplying you with local bananas .We have both Organic, and Free -range eggs, plus Panya's bakery's beautiful bread. 15.01.2022 Dear Customers, Very similar to last week,same difficulty in obtaining good produce,only good rains will change that, and then we must wait for the veges to grow. How I wish to be able to say, we've had enough rain.... Our veges are O.K. still looking good. This week the men pulled the Shades across the top section. They are a wonderful innovation, made in Sweden. Fine mesh, with aluminum threaded through. Both we, and the plants feel as if we are standing under a tree offering light shade. They look a little tatty being some twenty years old,but the effect is great. Not much else to report. With best wishes to everyone.. Peter and Jan.

09.01.2022 Dear Customers, We have reduced our hours, a little, as winter is not so far away,and only the bravehearts arrive at first light., so we hope an 8.00 a.m. start does not upset anyone. We shall remain open until 12 p..m..this week end as we do not wish to have any one come and find us closed,so we shall be in the shed until mid day. Our changed hours shall kick in next week end. We shall be complying with the requirements covering Food, and have changed the hoses a little..., so that filling your bottles is easier, you now do not have to touch a hose. There are bottles of sanitiser, on the facing shelf, and we ask you to use it before turning on the taps. Would you please maintain the one and a half meters between you, and the next waiting customer. We thank you for observing these precautions. We hope to be planting more seedlings, either this, or next week, as they become available. There has been some panic buying, which greatly decreased available stocks. For the time being, we have shut the kitchen, and shall keep you posted as to what will be happening in that area. Meanwhile we hope you stay well, we look forward to seeing you soon. 09.01.2022 Dear Customers, This is the most difficult, of all the posts we have shared with you. Peter, and I have come to the conclusion, that he will not regain his health if he does not retreat, look after himself, and allow himself to rest, and heal. We have tried every combination, from Andy's 100% taking over, to a great deal of input from staff, who have been generous, giving, in short quite wonderful. Every,thing helped, but did not achieve remission..... So Peter is booked for surgery in early March. We decided to commence the rest, an relaxation before surgery, and once the date was set felt the time was right for now, not in the future. We have had a great journey with you, enjoyed your company enormously,and feel we have gained so many friends, along the way. We cannot guess the future, but we shall keep you posted. 'Harvest' will close as a fruit and vege. venue, but we shall stay open on both Saturday, and Sunday, to provide you with water. We shall be in the Packing Shed from 7 a. m to 12 noon. You will be able to purchase some veges, for the garden is still fairly full.The water will always be available on week ends for now, and in the future. 06.01.2022 Dear Customers, and Friends, A lovely weather week, a perfect growing week for veges., our vege patch is looking very good, and the planted winter crop look great. We have sought seeds everywhere,for a while they were in short supply.p We have also returned to our local growers,and have purchased supplies of carrots, zucchini, sweet potatoes,tomatoes, and eggplant, onions, beetroot, and celery. onions pumpkin, will be available. It will be very similar to the market ...you remember, missing only will be the fruit. The veges on show will be either organic, or no spray. We have returned to Panya Bakery, and purchased his beautiful bread. Eggs will also be available. Les, will also be sending his bananas.our only fruit item. We look forward to local growers as their crops come on supplying us, with citrus fruit. Peter , this week is taking 'Bountiful Water' to the 'Currumbin Community Markets' opposite Currumbin R.S.L. this may be more convenient for some of you. Open from 8a.m until 11 a.m.. 02.01.2022 FOND FAREWELL - Dear Friends, Customers, and Visitors, Peter & I, wish to pass on our most grateful thanks for the pleasure, & joy we have experienced in your company over so many years.... It has been the happiest of times as we got to know you, & you introduced your friends, & families to Harvest & ourselves. We are stepping back, to allow Peter, to both heal, & recouperate. However like Dame Nellie Melba, we will pop in, to meet, have a pot of herb tea, & catch up on the news. There is sadness, & regret, for we have never worked within a business, that brought so much contentment, interest, & interesting people, it simply did not feel like work. Our good fortune did not stop with you (our customers) it spilled over to our staff, who have been extraordinarily helpful, & filled in for us, ran the Packing Shed, like the knowledgeable veterans they are., & they too have provided us with the best of memories, for ' Harvest' may be about vegetables, but foremost it is all about people. Andrew, all seeing, and everywhere, is about to retire with Jennelle, & leave on a long planned trip around Australia, promised before they left, to find someone to Manage, the Packing Shed. Good as his word, he introduced Dominic and Wendy a well known local couple well versed in growing vegetables, & fruit, successfully marketing their good produce, A perfect fit we believe. They have all ready started planting their spring, & summer vegetables with enthusiasm, and are really looking forward to meeting, & greeting you on October 5th. Last, but certainly not least, Andrew introduced two charming young ladies Hannah, & Courtney, who will manage the coffee, & eating area. Both passionate, about good food, and good coffee., they too are looking forward to their debut on October 5th. We think we are the most fortunate of couples to have been given an arm chair exit, and believe the Packing Shed will go from strength to strength with the wonderful people who have run it, & for those who are about to. As you know Peter had an up, and down year healthwise, but we feel very positive that during this year he will continue to improve. To keep improving we believe he has to step back,relax more, but still be vitally interested, and helpful where he can. This is the plan, for this bright and shiny year we are embarking upon. We sincerely thank yo...u for your patience, and concern for we had a very messy past year with many changes. Our staff have been ever helpful, and we are very grateful to each and every one of you.who have assisted during that time. Peter plans to be present for a good part of Saturday mornings.. Last year we believe was the most difficult we have experienced, sourcing good produce from Farmers' who were having terrible water problems, some ceasing to be able to provide. We have managed fairly well, with good water and,Greenhouse covers, but the heat causes some difficulties .At this time of the year we always look forward to February, when we do large re-.plantings, and although still hot, the plants are very vigorous. 01.01.2022 Dear Customers, Difficult weather, with heat, and absence of good rain. Today's gentle rain, leads us to hope that more is on the way, and that so many parched areas will benefit from a good summer drenching.. We are looking pretty good in the Greenhouse, broccoli, and all the greens performing well. We have pulled across our summer roof curtains, and everyone who works with us is benefiting from gentler temperatures, also a boon for those of you who come to pick. During th...ese hot days those who come early are able to collect there veges before the build up of heat, and your veges will be at their very best. On a personal note Peter is about to step back a little. He is doing very well, but has never learned to moderate his activities, and the only way we may bring this about is to push him to step back, he will be in the Packing Shed often, he enjoys every moment when in harness, and has the best times meeting, and greeting.
