22.01.2022 The clouds build up during the day, started to break up then came in with the purple hue. Please pretty please, can we have some raindrops on the ground.... The storms moved to the south of us, but not without leaving us with some colours of the desert to remember the day by. #storminthedesert #curtinsprings

21.01.2022 We have gratefully sucked up 27mm of rain today. The soft raindrops mend the soul of humans, animals and plants. We run our cattle production system to try and keep the grass butts in place, so they can kick off as soon as they get a little drink and we don't have to wait for a seed to germinate. Our native grasses are so resilient! This little fellow tried hard last week after we had 11mm. ... The little leaves were only about 2 inches in length, but it's all about the hope of follow up rain. The last 24 hours means that he and his neighbours will be able to get a real kick along. A cow will be able to wrap her tongue around him in only a few days and she'll then be able to up the quality of the milk she's producing for her new calf. Not many mouthfuls and she'll start to put the condition back on herself. A few drops of rain completes the circle for everyone. #curtinsprings #nativegrasses #howcleverismothernature # See more

16.01.2022 The clouds built up yesterday and the forecast said showers, but we've been teased so many times ... and it's been such a long time between decent drinks. Come on baby darling dearest one, lets slip up the Top End and do a bore run before it rains! As usual, he humoured me, although we didn't have very high expectations of a wet night. The clouds were pretty spectacular. ... Last night Huey delivered. 20mm in the gauge after constant ongoing good soaking rain all night. What a way to spend the dark time, getting up, standing on the verandah and just breathing it in!

13.01.2022 Tourism NT during some of their recent research, found that Australian's feel MORE Australian when they are 'outback' or 'outbush'. Those of us that call regional and remote Australia home, already know that! Here's some wonderful imagery and great stomp-along music to make your heart sing. ... Think about how the farmers in 'the west' make this country of ours productive, while preserving the natural environment and making it their home. Many of us share our lives and stories with lots of visitors. This year more than ever we need visitors to come and share the wonders of our homes! Now is the time to plan your holiday to visit all the places that just give you goosebumps! Don't forget to hug your farmer today. Maybe while you are on the way to your Travel Agent! #holidayherethisyear #seeAustralia #RedCentreNT #curtinsprings

06.01.2022 Voice - Persistent calling in summer storms. What a lovely description of the pratincole from George Adams. Maybe he is a little harbinger for a long wet summer? We usually see them right up the northern end of the station when there is water in the dams. We don't often see them around the homestead area, but this guy was enjoying the green pick under the big sprinkler.... He can be anywhere he wants if he brings the rain! #curtinsprings #birdsinthedesert #whatbirdisthat
