21.01.2022 Hey STEM parents, Just recently I have had a few parents ask me what units their child should be choosing in high school to give them the best chance of getting into university. I understand that you may be thinking that their ATAR score is the only entry key into uni but it just isn't true anymore.... If your child is dead set (currently) on a particular degree then check out the prerequisites on the universities website for that particular degree. Just for reference in my final year I did Math 3AB, English 3AB, Drama 3AB, Human Bio 3AB, Physical Ed 1CD and Outdoor Ed 1CD. I am now studying a double degree in Mechatronic Engineering and Computer Science with a focus on machine learning and have an internship at a research office (the dream). One of my colleagues was a mechanic prior to coming to Mechatronic Engineering. I hope this has helped and put some of your fears to bed.

13.01.2022 Super Important Announcement The time has come!! We are again opening up registrations for this semesters STEM Academy Sessions. For those of you that are new to STEM Academy, all of our tutors are sourced directly from the Curtin Robotics Club and all classes are located at the Curtin University of Technology Bentley Campus (The actual class room changes from semester to semester). Now the important information, our classes coincide with the school dates (your ch...ildren's holidays are our tutor's holidays ) so we only run during the school terms. The class structure works around a project that has been pulled apart by the tutors and each week we help the STEM Kids to learn a particular area of the project until finally the project is complete and the work is showcased to you the parents. The STEM Academy classes aren't age based but knowledge based: Beginner Classes is designed for children with little to no experience in robotics and will be working with the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robots Intermediate Classes is still working with the LEGO Mindstorms platfrom but investigating the higher level features. Finally, the Advanced Class will be working with the Arduino Microcontrollers and this class is designed for those who have had experience with Robotics and want to really extend themselves in real world systems. The classes will run on Thursdays beginning 8th of March and run for 13 weeks (a full breakdown will be provided on the very first day) and as always classes will start at 4:00pm and run for 1.5 hours. The cost is $390 for the 13 weeks ($30 per week) and that is it, we provide all of the robots and electronics needed. 12.01.2022 Hi Everyone With this semesters projects truly under way, it is amazing to witness how much these children have developed their robotics capabilities in such a short period of time!! Recently we took a break from designing & constructing the various projects and instead tested the children's' knowledge by having them build and program Sumo Battle Robots. (Apparently children enjoy destructive activities.. who would have known)... The children were given a set of rules and scenarios they had to understand in order to design the unique Battle Bots to compete with. It was incredible to see the creativity and out of the box thinking that emerged during the Battle Bot design stage! For the testing stage it was all hands on deck with everybody want to go first and battle all at once!! For all those parents who have been diligently following the progress of this semesters STEM Academy kids and would like to get their children involved in this fun and safe learning experience WATCH THIS SPACE! We will be releasing the enrollment forms for next semesters classes early next year! Lastly, please share this page with your friends and family, we would love to see the development in robotics of any child who wishes to learn!!

11.01.2022 More Great News! STEM Academy is now collaborating with yet another school to provide a platform for future roboticists and current teachers to learn and engage with STEM Academy's tutors on robotics!! The lovely staff at St Anthony's Primary School have decided to collaborate with STEM Academy to develop a robotics program to allow current students to release their creativity and ambition for robotics.... It really is so great to see people (not just parents and teachers) understand the importance of new technologies for the future generations!!! If you have any questions about the current programs we run or are interested on behalf of a school please email us or send a message!

07.01.2022 Hey STEM people, Many of you ask if we run school holiday programs for young robotics enthusiasts and of course we (STEM Academy) don't, but our friends here at Curtin STEM Outreach do!
