25.01.2022 In #SuperBowl LV it’s #OldDog versus #NewTricks - Tom Brady v Patrick Mahomes. Looking forward to seeing who takes it out between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and The Kansas City Chiefs. Cairns Gridiron Association #CairnsFalcons

24.01.2022 We know there are exciting careers available in health, as well as other growth areas like aged care and disability care and support. That’s why it was so exciting to be part of the announcement yesterday at Bentley Park College for the official launch of the Gateway to Industry Schools Health and Information Communication Technology initiative. I was pleased to confirm a Queensland Government commitment of $600,000 for a purpose-built health training lab, which will complem...ent the facilities being provided by Canstruct International. Bentley Park College became the first Gateway School in Queensland to have a specific Health focus following the recent signing of a MoU between the Queensland Department of Education and CheckUP Australia. With the recent opening of the nearby Cairns South Health facility on Walker Road and the $600K investment (thanks Education Minister Grace Grace MP), Bentley Park College is ideally positioned to support students wishing to undertake careers in the health and ICT sectors - with a strong focus on young Indigenous health workers. Having been involved in early discussions with College principal Bruce Houghton and his team and Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service Chair Clive Skarott - it was a real pleasure to be part of this event.

22.01.2022 At the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month - We Will Remember Them. I was proud to join Michael Healy MP to lay wreaths to commemorate Remembrance Day this morning. We should never forget that even after peace was declared, many combatants never found their own peace. Thanks to Yarrabah Council Mayor Ross Andrews and Kylie Bock from my office for laying wreaths on my behalf at Yarrabah and Gordonvale respectively.

20.01.2022 A big thank you to the Speaker of Queensland Curtis Pitt MP for allowing our historic election broadcast from inside Parliament. Here’s the story behind the chamber where our exclusive event came from. www.7NEWS.com.au #qldvotes #qldpol #7NEWS

20.01.2022 #Thanks to the people of Mulgrave for returning me for a fifth term as your representative in the Queensland Parliament. I will continue to return the faith you have placed in me and work hard every day.

20.01.2022 We’re ready for kick off to watch #TheDecider and cheer on the Queensland Maroons to thump the cockroaches. #Queenslander!

15.01.2022 It’s been a long day on the polling booths today but regardless of the results I want to say thanks to my amazing team of volunteers from Queensland Labor, United Workers Union, Cairns Gridiron Association Falcons, and special mention to Dhananjoy Bose and his son for flying up from Brisbane to help. I’m proud we’ve run a positive and clean campaign that’s been focussed on local issues. I hope everyone gets a chance to put their feet up tonight and enjoy a couple of drinks #Gratitude #Thanks

15.01.2022 You meet all kinds of people on Election Day - this voter put on her makeup for #Halloween before she remembered she hadn’t voted yet! #QldElection20

11.01.2022 I know I shouldn’t show any bias but given I asked for it to be created and it has my name on it, it’s a great gin that I was very proud to taste and refine. It was the ‘Q’ option out of ‘Q’ ‘L’ and ‘D’ taste test. In the words of one of my good mates, it has a delightfully refreshing body delivered with a fruity uppercut. Great job Kalki Moon Distilling & Brewing Company. I’ll share one with you Tom Smith for Bundaberg at the first sitting.

06.01.2022 Fair Play Vouchers for $150 are now available through Queensland Sport and Recreation to help young people reconnect with their favourite team or club. This is a terrific opportunity to help eligible families cover the cost of memberships, registration or participation fees. I know kids will be keen to get back into active recreation, and it’s a great way to learn new skills and form friendships. These Vouchers are always popular, so head to www.qld.gov.au/recreation/sports/f...unding/fairplay/apply to check out the full range of eligible clubs and activities available. The program supports eligible Queensland parents and carers with a $150 voucher towards the cost of sports registration for kids aged between 5-17. You can apply if your child: is a Queensland resident aged from 5 to 17 years (inclusive) at the time of application holds, or whose parent, carer or guardian holds, a valid Department of Human Services Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card with the child’s name on it.

05.01.2022 A new $600,000 Health Training Facility is about to be built at Bentley Park College. It's going to be the core of the school's Queensland-first program, that gives students qualifications while they're studying. www.7NEWS.com.au #7NEWS

04.01.2022 Happy Birthday to my wonderful sister Dionne Berry. Even though FNQ and Tasmania are about as far apart as you can get, we still manage to stay close. Thanks for being a wonderful sister, friend, daughter and mother. Love you Dee Dee xoxo

04.01.2022 I am grateful that the people of Mulgrave have supported me as their local representative for four terms and I’m asking for your support for the next four years.... I’m proud of the work the Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk MP has done in keeping Queenslanders safe and have enormous faith in our plans for economic recovery going forward. See more

04.01.2022 I took my Dad Warren Pitt to his first Cairns Speedway event tonight along with Tristan and his friend Liam (who really enjoyed checking out the pits). Dad had a ball and said he would definitely go again. A great night of racing - a shout out to Formula 500 driver #39 and birthday boy Brodie Davis who blitzed the field all night (and had his family, friends and Brodie Davis Racing to loudly cheer him on!). Thanks to Gordon Greaves for the tickets!

02.01.2022 The first day of school finally arrived and the kids were both nervous and excited to go back! For Tristan in particular it was a milestone day going to High School. All a little taller and a little wiser - here’s hoping for a more regular school year than we had in 2020.

01.01.2022 I recently visited Edmonton Community Kindergarten to present them with a new Queensland Flag. Despite their young age, the children took a real interest in the flag and we discussed the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags as well. Thanks to Co-Director Carol Browning for taking the time to have a chat about the Kindy’s future plans, including new flooring which will be installed over the Christmas break, after the Kindy secured $26,700 from the Queensland... Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund. The Kindy consistently exceed National Quality Standards in Early Childcare and Education, and have built a strong reputation in the community for supporting children with complex learning needs. The Kindy helps prepare young people for school by developing their social and emotional skills and providing individual support. Carol and the team are now welcoming a second generation of children whose parents attended the Kindy when they were young, which is a real testament to the fond memories that the center helps create.

01.01.2022 This morning I had the pleasure of presenting the Gordonvale State School leaders for 2021 with their badges. Congratulations to Tyler Bouchereau, Dante Fernandez, Kelsie Buhagiar and Jahzara Mitchell-Cornie for taking on the responsibility of a leadership role. Good to see representatives there from the Queensland Police Service like Steve Harris, P&C President Toni Ford and Gordonvale State High School principal Heather Murry, and thanks to principal Lloyd Perkins for the invitation.
