08.01.2022 MASSIVE DEVELOPMENT PLANNED FOR MORISSET COUNTRY CLUB SITE A massive family entertainment and cultural precinct is planned for the former Morisset Country Club ...site. In May the Morisset golf club was told its lease wouldn't be renewed and the club, which had been operating for 50 years, was forced to close. Plans are set to be revealed today for a family, tourism, cultural and event space on the site. The precinct which is set to be known as Cedar Mill, after the region's timber history, will feature Australia's largest water splash pad, petting zoo, cafes, restaurants and a concert venue. The concert and event space will account for 40% of the former golf club site, with an open air amphitheatre to host up 30,000 people. Developer Paul Lambess says representatives from the Australian music and concert industry have already inspected the site of the planned ampitheatre. "The remaning parts of the site are open to a whole range of opportunities," he said. "The feedback in the industry has said keep the space flexible and there could be multiple stages, there could be camping and caravan expos and a whole range of events. "So its got its selling point of being flexible and the land is beautiful." It's estimated more than 1,200 jobs will be created during construction and almost 500 once operational.
