22.01.2022 Many people often ask me whether it's better to catch or mulch grass clippings? I always recommend mulching if you have a relatively weed free lawn and mow regularly. This improves the soil, and also reduces soil temperature and water evaporation, giving it better resilience to the summer heat. This explains it a bit further.... https://lawnsolutionsaustralia.com.au//catch-rake-grass-c/

08.01.2022 Some more information and tips on how to keep your lawn alive during the hot summer months. I like to water my lawn of an evening to allow more time for the water to penetrate the soil before it evaporates. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=782669135490280&id=201833053573894

04.01.2022 I have been recommending people use wetting agents during summer to get better effect from the water they use. Here's why. https://www.facebook.com/201833053573894/posts/756444321446095/

03.01.2022 You might recall me mentioning wetting agents a while ago just as water restrictions were coming in. The wetting agent is used to prevent soil from being hydrophobic, or in other words, won't absorb water. Well when mentioning this to my customers, I'm always met with mixed responses. Let's just say I have my share of "non believers". ... That said, I have always tried to provide evidence to back up my advice, which is usually digging up some soil to see how far the water is penetrating after watering. However, some people still aren't convinced. Well here is the evidence I have been waiting for. Consider this........ I have measured 249.1mm from Thursday afternoon until last night (Monday night) which is 10 inches of rain, and I decided to improve the drainage from the driveway to deflect run-off better. So I used a shovel to dig away some of the soil and this is what I found. 10 inches of rain, and a collection point for run-off and the water only penetrated just over an inch in some of the soil. The attached photos were taken minutes after the storm came through and the road was still wet. Seeing is believing.
