22.01.2022 "Thoughts For Today" As the state of the world has changed, the concerns of my clients have changed. Im now being asked: How do I stay motivated in times like this? And the truth is: you might not stay #motivated . Not the answer you were looking for? Tough pill to swallow? Well, look at it this way:... Were you ALWAYS motivated to hit your workouts, smash your nutrition, and live your best life BEFORE we were social distancing and working from home? I highly doubt it. But guess what? YOU DID IT ANYWAY. Motivation may not always be there. Thats where #DISCIPLINE and #SUPPORT come in. Just because your circumstances have changed, doesnt mean you should value yourself less. And it doesnt mean you should give yourself excuses to forget about your health. So, what did you do to be disciplined before? Did you schedule in your workouts? Meal prep on Sundays? In times like this, youre probably doing one of these three things: Leaning on comfort food: Some people stocked up on toilet paper, and you stocked up on extra chips. Or maybe youre taking this time as an excuse to drink more than normally. Let me tell you, no amount of food is going to do the inner work that this time is calling you to do! Need comfort? Learn how to find it within yourself. Youll fe...el better at the end of the day, both mentally and in terms of digestion Playing the victim You feel bad for yourself for being in this situation which leads you to do nothing about it. But guess what? Most people have it bad in some shape or form right now. Give yourself a set amount of time to feel bad for yourself, and then move on. Take action in the form of small steps, and it will not only make you feel better, but it will help change your situation. Being selfish Youre stuck in the us vs. them mentality. Now, this is a totally natural response. It comes from fear. But it doesnt do anyone any good to live in fight or flight. Check on your neighbours. Reach out to your community and those in need. 11.01.2022 Like you, Ive been thinking more and Like you, Ive been thinking more and more about non-perishable foods. Probably more than I ever have in my entire life. If youre anything like me when it comes to food and meal prepping, you have trained yourself to embrace the mantra of fresh is best. So, when those preferred fresh items arent available, how do you go about continuing your healthy eating habits? The truth is that there are many options with canned and frozen food ...that can supplement your diet during times like these where resources are scarce. When it comes to non-perishable foods, canned items have gainemore about non-perishable foods. Probably more than I ever have in my entire life. If youre anything like me when it comes to food and meal prepping, you have trained yourself to embrace the mantra of fresh is best. So, when those preferred fresh items arent available, how do you go about continuing your healthy eating habits? The truth is that there are many options with canned and frozen food that can supplement your diet during times like these where resources are scarce. When it comes to non-perishable foods, canned items have gained probably the worst reputation for being full of preservatives and sodium. And, yes, there are many brands out there that are just as bad as eating a bowl of packaged ramen. It is all about taking the time to read the labels. Here is what to look for when purchasing canned food: Organic (if available) If Organic is not available, look for a reputable brand No generic/store brands Low or No Sodium Added Low or No Sugar Added For canned fruit, look for No Syrup and Lite For canned beans, steer clear of versions with added bacon, syrups, or other ingredients Keep it simple. You can add seasonings yourself later. Be really careful about buying canned sweet potatoes because these, especially, can be laden with sugars. With canned fish, stick to humanely sourced and wild caught for tuna and salmon. For canned chicken, look for low or no sodium. 07.01.2022 I have a confession for you today! Believe it or not, I used to EAT BREAD at night for a snack At first it didnt seem like a big deal, but then I noticed a downside of the habit a few extra kilos, poor sleep, and lack of energy in the morning!... I knew I had to do something to stop. So, here is exactly what I did... I completely changed up my nighttime routine so I could avoid all the old temptations I got rid of the bread from the pantry (buried deep down in the freezer!) I started getting out the kitchen or any space that would make crave bread and I started replacing with new habits at night Journaling, reading etc It was HARDER than I thought it would be. And the payoffs have totally been worth it. THE UPSIDE When I did crave a snack at night I replaced it with a healthy alternative (nuts, celery stick etc), having more energy, sleeping better and starting to see the waste line shed that bodyfat! Have you ever kicked a bad habit? What was it and how did you do it!?

Here are just a few steps you can take to build your mindset: 1. Put yourself in a positive environment. Surround yourself with people who support and empower you to be your best self. Read self development books, listen to podcasts, and seek out mentors who inspire you. 2. Watch your words and inner dialogue. Replace negative thoughts and words with positive ones. This makes a huge difference. 3. Know that perfect doesnt exist. Find ways to enjoy the journey of reaching your goals instead of chasing perfection. Its all about who you BECOME in the process. 4. Follow your own path. Focus on your strengths (versus any perceived weaknesses) and use them to power you forward. In the long run, consistent effort will get you a LOT farther than natural talent! 03.01.2022 You already know exactly what to do! That is the finding of a fascinating new study that came out earlier this year from the website clearerthinking.org. They studied more than 500 people who wanted to create healthy habits. As part of their research, they actually ran 5 different studies and analyzed more than 1,000 follow-up surveys.... And they found 1 Habit formation technique that OUTPERFORMED all the others. The winner: HABIT REFLECTION and its something you can do right now! If youre trying to create a habit (like working out, eating a healthier diet, etc.), heres how Habit Reflection works. First: Pick a situation from the past where you had success in changing a habit or behavior. Example: maybe when you were in school, you decided to bring up your grades. Or at work, you went for a new job or promotion. Second: Write down what you learned from that past situation. How did you do it? Were there any tactics or motivations that helped drive you forward? What specifics can you remember. Lasty: Create a plan that applies your past lessons to your new habit or goal. Following that process helped push study participants an average of 0.7 more times a week than other techniques. That doesnt sound like a lot, but its actually a 140% improvement over the second-most-effective technique. Plus, the people in the study reported more satisfaction with the process than other groups! So what achievement in the past can you reflect on to find strategies and ideas to help power you through your next goal? 01.01.2022 Im afraid to use the free weights ... Does this sound familiar?!! If so, then keep on reading girl.... So youre probably thinking, well I dont use them ...because: 1 Lifting weights will make me look bulky. 2 What if I look crazy?! (gym) 3 To lose fat, you only need to do cardio. 4 I dont want to get in anyones way. (gym) 5 If I do sit ups it will give me abs. If these are the thoughts that float around in your mind...I want you to know you arent alone. I used to feel this way too. Keep in mind too..majority people in the gym and at home are still figuring it out too. It wasnt until I had someone teach me the ins and outs of how to weight lift that I felt comfortable in the gym or at home- so I want to pay it forward to you! But because us Women are in this together..Im going to share a few helpful tips for gym or home sessions so that you look like the ultimate pro on the gym floor and at home: Write down your routine before going into the gym or Your Home Program. Have a plan and stick to it. Always warm up with a lighter weight to prevent injuries or pulled muscles. Rest (60-90 sec) in between sets. Never allow anyone to rush you or feel like you have fly through your sets. The muscles need oxygen and energy..but that only happens when you rest. Hire a Health & Fitness Coach. Having a coach/trainer by your side can provide the encouragement, energy and motivation you need to jump start your routine. A trainer can also help you set goals, create a plan to accomplish them and celebrate the day you reach them. Please try these tips for your next training session. Remember, you dont have to run to the cardio machine every gym visit or even worst sit on the couch and do nothing.
