21.01.2022 Here is a list of basic safety checks which are easy to do and should be done regularly on your vehicle. 1.Check all exterior lights are working. A good time to do this is when you park your car in the garage at night. Close the garage door, turn the ignition and lights on and check their reflection against the walls. 2.Check that glass surfaces (including the mirrors) are clean and free from chips, cracks and scratches. 3.Check that the windscreen wipers and washers operate ...efficiently. 4.Check the wiper rubbers are secure and in good condition. 5.Make sure the horn works. 6.Test the handbrake to ensure it holds the car on steep hills. 7.Check the condition of the seat belts. 10.01.2022 C V Automotive - Simple tips to help make your car go further between fills: 1. Drive economically - AROUND TOWN -drive smoothly, use gearbox sensibly, avoid peak hour. ON FREEWAY - use cruise control, use car air-con sparingly, keep windows up, use economy modes if you car is fitted with it. 2. Care for your car and save - keep your car regularly serviced, keep the engine correctly tuned, keep filters in good condition. 3. Inflate tyres correctly - Check your tyre pressure o...nce a week, when they are cold. Keep your tyres inflated slightly higher than stated on your tyre placard. 4. Check the wheel alignment - Ensure the wheel alignment is correctly set and the brakes arent dragging, as these can both increase rolling resistance - and chew up more fuel 5.Check your load - If you can reduce the amount of gear in your car. Also external attachments such as roof racks with increase wind resistance and fuel use. If possible remove them when not in use. 6. 07.01.2022 HERE ARE SOME CAR GAMES SUITED TO BIGGER KIDS ***Give your kids an allowance for the day*** Tell them that this money is for snacks, treats, souvenirs etc... but when it is gone, that is all there is. Help them learn to budget their money and make good choices.... ***Let your children have a map.*** Give your kids an opportunity to have their own copy of a map of where you are going. Show them how far you have come, how much further there is to go and let them mark it with a crayon. Every time they ask "How much further? have them take out their map and see for themselves. You might also like to get a compass and show them how it works along with the map. You can buy wall maps, travel maps and travel guides, or for more fun, you can also print driving directions with a map when you click "get directions" at any mapping website such as "whereis". If you are going to be traveling across several states, try a Kids Road Atlas. ***MAKE a "map" of where you are going.*** Draw your own map that has the major stops and cities, and a nice happy drawing for your final destination. Throw in a few simple drawings of landmarks youll see along the way, such as a big bridge youll or a mountain tunnel. A home made map is easy for kids to follow and gives them a clearer picture of how much further there is to go. If your kids are old enough and its a trip that you take frequently, have the kids make their own map! ***Mystery Writing*** One child holds out his hand and closes his eyes while the other child "writes" on his hand with her finger. Rules of the game: The rules are fairly simple: One person starts telling a story. She talks for about a minute and stops when she reaches an exciting moment. If a large group is playing, the last person to have a turn finishes the story. With a small number of children, the game is over when one player decides to give the story an ending.
