This week were considering how to love the journey and last the distance in the "race marked out for us". This is not about slick answers or quick fixes. Were exploring the spiritual disciplines that equip us to follow Jesus and become more like him. Life can be tough and challenging and we can grow weary. But God has placed us in community to support each other. Join us online or join church@home 10am Sunday.

24.01.2022 CV Church weekly update 18/11/20 - https://mailchi.mp/a218b794/cv-church-weekly-update-4896818 One of the great mysteries of the Christian faith is that Jesus is both fully human and fully divine? Minimising his divinity can make him too familiar and we lose a sense of awe or holiness. Minimising his humanity can make Jesus seem remote and unapproachable. How do you go personally holding the twin natures of Jesus in healthy tension?

23.01.2022 Is life a little chaotic? discover how small changes make a big difference.

23.01.2022 How to find the strength to go on.

22.01.2022 What triggers your need for approval? When do you try and impress others? Jesus challenged the religious leaders of his day who were constantly drawing attention to themselves instead of God. This week we begin a mini-series entitled, "Living for an audience of One". Well be looking at three spiritual disciplines, giving, praying, and fasting. Jesus taught his disciples to do all three, with a focus on pleasing God alone. You can read more in Matthew 6

20.01.2022 CV Church marking the moment

20.01.2022 CV Church weekly update 11/11/20 - https://mailchi.mp/580d21c8/cv-church-weekly-update-4893414 It's easy to be overwhelmed by the confusion and upheaval in our world. Abuse, conflict, poverty and polarisation can leave us fearful and despairing. The first Christians experienced similar challenges and declared that Jesus Christ was Lord. Their counter cultural confession was radical and costly in a society that saw the Emperor as divine. It was the ultimate statement of trust and surrender and still is today.

20.01.2022 CV Church weekly update 6/1/21 - https://mailchi.mp/bdf8ee36/cv-church-weekly-update-5849606 "Why do you worry?" Jesus' question doesn't ignore the challenges and uncertainties of life. Instead, he frames life through the lens of a caring God who knows and provides for our needs. Join us this Sunday @10am as we remember the goodness of God.

19.01.2022 CV Church weekly update 12/8/20 - https://mailchi.mp/3e1e6483/cv-church-weekly-update-4849942 Have you had enough? Fed up with the ongoing uncertainty of daily life? This weekend well be considering how to anchor ourselves in the goodness and faithfulness of God in these uncertain times. 18.01.2022 Struggling? Gods Spirit is right alongside helping us ... keeping us present before God. Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, Gods Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we dont know how or what to pray, it doesnt matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. Thats why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. Romans 8:26-28 MSG https://www.bible.com/97/rom.8.26-28.msg

18.01.2022 Do you find yourself distracted when you want to be more connected with God. Here are some tips for daily living which can eliminate distractions and increase our sense of intimacy with God.

17.01.2022 CV Church weekly update 07/10/20 - https://mailchi.mp/8d08bf28/cv-church-weekly-update-4876950 The Bible repeatedly describes God's relentless pursuit of his people. Psalm 139 is one of my favourite reminders of the way in which God pursues us and is present with us. Perhaps you feel like you are not spiritual enough, or maybe you've failed in some way. Be comforted by the knowledge that "there is nothing you can do to make God love you more and there is nothing you can do to make God love you less." (P. Yancey) God's love pursues us every day.

12.01.2022 CV Church weekly update 2/9/20 - https://mailchi.mp/4e9c1b25/cv-church-weekly-update-4859122 Most of us need our image of God repaired in some way. It is like a masterpiece that has fallen into the hands of a young child. Not knowing any better, they play with it, add to it or damage it. Sometimes, it becomes unrecognisable. Join us this weekend as we celebrate fathers and see how Jesus repairs our image of God.

02.01.2022 Jesus said, "I was a stranger and you welcomed me." COVID has reminded us of our need for community but it has also created a sense of distance and isolation. Making space in our lives for others begins by seeing them as God does. This message explores the importance of hospitality which starts with inviting others into our lives.

01.01.2022 CV Church weekly update 26/8/20 - https://mailchi.mp/9b95148b/cv-church-weekly-update-4855886 Jesus words, "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." Matthew 5:48 NIVUK, used to depressed me. As a perfectionist Id blame others or beat myself up when I got things wrong. Then I learnt that the original word Jesus used was about growing up to maturity rather than always "getting it right". This is the purpose of the spiritual disciplines, to help us to make daily progress in becoming more like Jesus.
