22.01.2022 There was an instant connection when business owners Matt and Julie met jobseeker Jake. Ballarat CVGT Australia had been working with Southern Cross Home Maintenance Service to find the right person to join their local business. When Matt and Julie met Jake, they immediately wanted to give him the opportunity to work within their business.... Jake was given a gardening position at Southern Cross Home Maintenance for eight hours per week. In his new role, Jake has learnt a range of skills from gardening to mowing, weeding and yard cleanups and has become part of a team. With the help of Southern Cross Home Maintenance and staff at the Ballarat CVGT office, Jake has developed other skills such as work ethic, communication, time management, organisation and the importance of packing your lunch! Since employing Jake, Matt and Julie have employed more team members through CVGT Australia. Thank you Matt and Julie for being so generous in providing the opportunity for people to join your business and thrive. You can read more about Jake’s story via our website https://bit.ly/2V0d4Z2

11.01.2022 Bernadette is learning that no two days are the same on a dairy farm, and sometimes you have to get in and get your hands dirty. Bernadette commenced with our jobactive program with support from career coach Nigel who is based in our Albury branch, and gained a role at a dairy farm in the region. I’ve been working long days and smell like the cows but I’m loving all aspects of it, says Bernadette.... In her role, Bernadette has made some new friends of the four-legged variety and helped to bring new life into the world. Almost all the 130 calves have been born. We’ve had some emergencies such as prolapses and breeches which have been exciting to remedy. It’s fantastic to learn from such a good boss. Bernadette says the support and guidance from CVGT has been such a blessing. Well done Albury team. For more information about our jobactive program, visit http://bit.ly/cvgtjobactive See more

04.01.2022 In getting to know Milan, the team at CVGT Ballarat discovered he had a passion for voice acting with the vision to apply this skill to video games. We worked closely with Milan, who has autism spectrum disorder and Erb’s palsy, and provided him with the extra support he needed to find a pathway into this competitive field by organising work experience at local radio station Voice FM. After completing his work experience, Milan expressed an interest in working in a technolog...y related role so this became the goal for all. The team were able to secure Milan a job at local electronics supply company Wiltronics. Milan has eased into his role on the production line which includes packing order and unpacking deliveries. He is learning to master one thing at a time with a view to build his overall confidence. Wiltronics offers Milan an environment that interests him and has room for growth. Thank you Richard and the team at Wiltronics who are willing to give everyone a go and help an employee realise their potential. You can read more about Milan's story via our website ~ https://www.cvgt.com.au/milan-finds-his-spark-at-wiltronic/

01.01.2022 Goal setting has become the foundation of success for young Indigenous woman Alexa. After being bullied, Alexa made the difficult decision to leave school on the caveat that she find a job. However, with no previous employment history and unsure of her career path, Alexa connected with CVGT’s Transition to Work program. When Alexa joined the program, she was shy and apprehensive about the service. CVGT consultant Dylan provided Alexa with the support she needed to gain confid...ence, realise her career goals and create a pathway to achieve independence. One of Alexa’s goals was to gain employment. After four months of coaching, Alexa was well prepared to pursue part-time employment. She decided to focus on the retail industry as this was something she would enjoy and it would help to increase her social skills. Within two months, Alexa was successful in securing a part time position at a Woolworths store in Echuca. Alexa has now exceeded her goal of six months employment with Woolworths. The CVGT team continues to work with Alexa to achieve her next goal of obtaining her learners permit. Alexa is also working towards her long-term goal, which is to obtain her probationary licence and move into a full-time position. Well done Alexa on achieving your goals in work and life. Read more of Alexa’s success story via our website: https://www.cvgt.com.au/goal-setter/
