01.01.2022 Some very exciting news to share in my life as an author. I have been commissioned by the Country Women's Association of NSW to write their centenary history. I... consider it a very great honour, and I'm very conscious of the enormous responsibility that goes with it. The CWA was born at a bush women's conference held in Sydney in April 1922. The idea soon spread to other states, creating an iconic movement that has given country women a voice and support for generations. I've just completed my first week in the CWA archives in Sydney. Among the treasures revealed so far is this arm band, donated to the collection by the family of Lane Cove branch member Joan Kay. The same file includes a handwritten note explaining the idea behind this highly recognised logo. In part, it says the yellow reminds members of the sunshine and the warmth of friendship, one to another. I'm so looking forward to learning more, and sharing the stories.
