23.01.2022 Endometriosis affects an estimated 1 in 10 people with uteruses. It is debilitating and the average length of time for a diagnosis to be reached is 9.5 years. Currently it can only be diagnosed via surgery - researchers are working on a urine test. We hope this money will help speed up this important research.

19.01.2022 Each year branches choose and vote upon a number of areas for study. The Primary Product for 2021 is rice. There are a number of dry rice farmers in our area, we look forward to learning more about their work.



18.01.2022 Ballina members Jeanette Kennedy and Dawn Pullen with some of the many items made by our members and friends including knitted and crocheted socks, beanies, hea...dbands and slippers which were sent on to our FNC Group sister group - Gwydir and to Coonabarabran Branch. Many more are on their way. Some were sold to raise money for food and fuel for locals in need and some were donated to local preschools, Mums and Bubs groups and distributed by rural suppliers to those in need. See more

Join us in our heritage-listed, air-conditioned CWA rooms in S...pinks Park this Tuesday February 2 from 9.30am for our first Craft & Friendship Morning for 2021. Bring along the handicraft piece you are working on or want to begin and get to know others in a friendly, relaxed setting. It may be sewing, tatting, crochet, knitting, tapestry, embroidery, quilling, weaving...whatever you like! The CWA is covid-safe. Please check in at the door with our QR code as you arrive and sign in. Those without smart phones can sign in on the covid sheets. Morning tea is provided for $3. 17.01.2022 CWA Awareness week starts on Sunday. The Ballina branch is having a street stall on Friday 11 September on River St, stop in and say hello (and also buy something!)

15.01.2022 CWA Mullumbimby celebrated their 76th birthday last Saturday 14 November, as well as holding their Branch International Day. Branch patrons Betty Byrnes and Elna Bostock cut the cake, the CWA MusicMakers sang, Rebecca Farrell activated her model of the volcano Mt Cotopaxi, and Branch President Diane Giddins welcomed guest Martha Ferguson from Ecuador (the CWA Country of Study for 2020). Guest speaker Debbie Clark gave an interesting talk and showed pictures of her holiday in Ecuador in 2018, and members and guests enjoyed a delicious luncheon in the air-conditioned cool of the Mullumbimby RSL.

13.01.2022 Here is our branch’s contribution to the brand new Richmond River Independent: a Country Women's Association (CWA) of NSW recipe for delicious Honey Jumbles, an...d an introduction to our branch and some history of the Association. Next week you’ll hear from CWA Tabulam Branch, along with a recipe supplied by them. Other branches in our region will be sharing their recipes and share stories of their branch. The CWA is Australia’s largest women’s lobbying group. We are grass roots and each branch is different, because no two communities are quite the same. But we all are working to improve the lives of women and families in rural and regional Australia, within our own communities and all the way to parliament.
