23.01.2022 The Ilford-Running Stream CWA branch is happy to advise that, due to representations made by our local Federal member, Andrew Gee, we have received a grant from the NSW Ministry of Health to purchase defibrillators for both Ilford and Running Stream halls. These will be purchased in due course, and we will be giving them to the respective hall committees to place in their halls. We want to thank both Andrew Gee and the NSW Ministry of Health for recognising the need for this equipment in our community.

21.01.2022 Our Branch was happy to receive a substantial donation of pantry items from the wonderful ladies of the St Michaels Golf Club from Little Bay in Sydney. These wonderful ladies transported their donation to Running Stream, where they were left in the care of Alice, our senior Vice President. Alice sorted the items into boxes and brought them to a recent CWA meeting. From here they will be distributed among those affected by the fires in our local area.

19.01.2022 I think there is something similar available from Optus.

19.01.2022 For all who know families who have been adversely affected in the recent bushfires and have struggled (as so many have) to deal both with the various bureaucracies and understand to which charities they can apply, Service NSW (phone 137788) has just announced that when an individual rings them asking for financial assistance, a case officer will be allocated to them. This means they don't have to repeat the same story again and again. Please pass this on. It can make a vital difference to those defeated first by the fires, then by the administrative bureaucracies.

18.01.2022 Our stall at Bunnings Mudgee today was quite successful, with almost total clearance of our offerings. Thank you to the members who cooked some delightful cakes, slices and sweets. Thank you to the management at Bunnings, and to their activities organiser, Kerry, for the opportunity to raise much needed funds, and for helping to raise our profile in the local community. We look forward to our next stall at Bunnings on Saturday 4th April.

18.01.2022 We still have a couple of assistance cheques outstanding!! Please, if you have received a cheque from our CWA Branch, deposit it ASAP!! Our Treasurer is not a happy camper!! In the meantime, we hope our community is staying well, and we look forward to the resumption of our activities when this kerfuffle is over.

14.01.2022 Just need to let our community know that all CWA branches in NSW, including ours, have been instructed to cease holding meetings and not to conduct any gatherings until this COVID 19 "lockdown" is lifted. This will mean our annual International Day luncheon (usually in May or June) will not be held this year. Although we are in recess, our branch will continue to exist, supported by our Executive and our members. We look forward to seeing the end of these restrictions imposed by social distancing, and resuming our activities within our community.

14.01.2022 Despite the cancellation of the CWA Conference in Newcastle this year, some competitions were still judged. Unfortunately, the Handicraft Competition and Land Cookery competition were cancelled but the Agriculture and Environment Competitions, among others, were held. Our Branch Agriculture and Environment Officer, Pam Hurley, scored the highest honors in the State Moore Award for the best Ag and Envir book. This is not the first time she has achieved first place in this competition, and the whole Branch is so happy with her success. As it is a State-wide competition, first place is quite an achievement! Congratulations, Pam!!

12.01.2022 A reminder to all those who are registered primary producers impacted by the bushfires: You are eligible to apply for a Special Disaster Grant - Bushfire grant up to $75,000 to assist with recovery from the effects of the bushfire. IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE, please apply, as the Government has far more money available than we have!! The money can be spent on fencing, rebuilding sheds etc. It is necessary for your application to include quotes, estimations or invoices of the work undertaken or planned. These funds are a grant, and not a loan. I will post a link in the comments.

11.01.2022 The Ilford-Running Stream Branch will hold its Annual Meeting on Wednesday 21st October at the Running Stream Hall at 10.30am. This year has been a little topsy-turvey, but we have made it through, and look forward to a better year to come. Membership fees are due now, and the amount of $36 can be paid on Wednesday at the meeting, or can be fowarded to our Secretary or Treasurer, or direct deposited to our bank account. Please send a message for details of the latter alternatives. We'd love to have some more members!! The CWA does some great work in the community, not all of it advertised, so don't hesitate to come along and see what we are about!

10.01.2022 Our branch (along with all other active NSW branches) has been given permission by Head Office to recommence physical meetings. So our next meeting will be held at the Ilford Hall on Wednesday 15th July at 10.30 am. We will be complying with Covid19 social distancing and hygiene rules, and each member will be bringing her own morning tea. Areas used by the meeting will be sanitised after use, and a list of those present, along with contact numbers, will be kept by the Secreta...ry. It will be SO good to see everyone again, and we are looking forward to recommencing our activities, within the limitations set by Head Office. For further information, please contact the Branch Secretary, Jenny Nott, on 0428102312. If unanswered (mobile phone reception is dicey in the back paddocks!), please leave a message. See more

08.01.2022 If you have received a cheque from our CWA branch to assist your re-fencing and recovery from the recent bushfires, PLEASE, make sure that you bank the cheque as soon as possible. Our Treasurer is a stickler for being on top of our finances, and would like to ensure that all cheques are presented promptly. We hope that our small contribution has assisted in your endeavours.

04.01.2022 Time for us to brag just a little. Our small branch (we have 12 members - 7 active) has won the Castlereagh Country Group Handicraft competition for 2020!! Since 2006, we have won the Amy Moore Trophy for the branch with the highest point score no less than 10 times, and the Gwen Nicholson Trophy for the entry with the highest points on 12 occasions since 2000. Our branch takes great pride in participating in the Handicraft competition in our Group, and we challenge ourselves each year to produce items that are of an extremely high standard.

02.01.2022 Since our Drought Aid program began in July 2018, we've distributed over $18 million to those affected by drought and we're helping those we haven't reached yet.... If you know someone who hasn't previously applied, go to https://www.cwaofnsw.org.au/droughtaid.html for more information and the application form.
