01.01.2022 Calling all knitters & crochet experts in the ACT & surrounding region The 5000 Poppies project needs you! The 5000 poppies team are currently creating a final... installation at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra. The tribute will be on display at the Memorial leading up to Remembrance Day, November 2018, to commemorate the end of the First World War. The project was founded in 2013, through a personal tribute by two Australian women to honour their fathers who both fought in World War II. Since then, many others have created poppies inspired for the same reason. The project has become an international tribute of respect and remembrance to those who have served in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations, their families and their communities. If you (or someone your know) are a knitting or crochet enthusiast, located in the ACT region, & may be able to contribute to the creation of more poppies, please visit their blog: www.5000poppies.wordpress.com or Facebook page: 5000 Poppies 2018 Poppy Appeal Challenge (https://www.facebook.com/groups/5000Poppies/).
